Seriously- what's the deal with this?

I along with lots of other people I know now get 10 calls a week about 'home improvement' or 'remodeling' quotes despite being on the do not call list.

Are these the same assholes who were running the extended auto warranty racket and got hit by the feds multiple times but just moved the dialing to europe?


Any tips to get the calls to stop? I couldn't care less except that they've now woken my daughter up with the phone ringing twice (we get other than that 1-2 calls a week on the landline)

conference call them over to another telemarketer
turn off your ringer

You can actually sue telemarketers for just about anything they do. Google it up, there are pretty clear laws on this. It's like $500 for every foul they make.

I accidentally did this on a payday loan form. Im still getting calls 2 months later.
But, its funny to listen to these indian guys try to pronounce "xfdvhshs" as my first name

I put together a bizopp leadgen, once upon a time, and the advertiser wanted SMS verification for the inputted phone numbers; needless to say, I had to test it with my own phone like three hundred times before finally getting the fucking thing to work.

I've gotten lots of calls from XYZ Debt Relief Company since then, trying to offer me their services, and I ask them to opt me out of their system, but one poor guy called me up about a month ago and had the balls to say, "Hi, I'm calling from XYZ, you've expressed interest in our services, but it seems that the name you used was Stupid Asshole."
 
call filtering app is the only answer unfortunately.. assuming you didn't give out your landline.

and to answer your original question we're.. er, they're not getting "rich" off of it really
 
some clarity

a) telemarketers are generally respectful of the do not call list, (due to the fines) since jumping on there many people (myself included) had solicitations go to near zero.

b) this changed in HUGE quantities with the auto warranty scam run by a few choice folks who were dumb enough to not do a good job of hiding their executive team's personal info

c) so now this has stopped, however now calls are continually coming in from "American Renovations" or "USA Remodeling" - real ambiguous names. And instead of a robodialer it's from retarded meth heads following the same scripts across a multitude of caliber of equipment from the call clarity. The pattern also continues- a 'ping' via a dial met with just a quick tone/hangup about 10-30 minutes prior, and then the call.

I've actually started answering "Hi, please pitch me on your remodeling special of the week however note that I rent so obviously am not going to be remodeling anything"


How they got this number is beyond me short of someone like a bank selling the data. But it's real fucking annoying.
 
I haven't had a landline in 8 years. Any telemarketer calling my mobile gets blocked. I like to keep life simple.

I don't rent, however was hoping that something like this might finally get me opted out.

Didn't know they had a cell box, interesting might have to look into that.

I had this security company keep calling me - nagging me - then one day I said fuck it, I told them I had a big house and did not know what the cost of there alarm system would be, then when the guy said hell do a free estimate, I said that my house was featured on a webpage (make$....online.com) and he should check it out to see how much it would cost... I fell out of my chair laughing my ass of when I heard the dickrool music playing on his speakers.
