absolutely. I think there was already a thread about this, but if you like this show, download the Dragon's Den. It's the Canadian version...they're on season 6 or already. Same two guys Kevin and Robert are on it.
 
It's a really cool concept and the sharks seemed to buy into their product. 50% though? ... I'm not certain why these guys needed 600k for their business. To me it seems like they've already developed the platform and all they need to do now is hire a bunch of commissioned salesmen to sell it like crazy. If you do that I would assume they would be running a positive cash flow business they could grow organically and scale easily.

I also personally I prefer dragons den. It doesn't have the production value so they feature more pitches per episode.
 
Did it stop showing? My dvr stopped picking it up months ago.
I couldn't find any further information on what was going on
 
Me and my wife really like watching Shark Tank. It's based on the original Dragon's Den from the UK (which later started in Canada and other countries). Dragon's Den is just as good as Shark Tank if not better, and you can learn quite a bit (negotiation, investor mindsets, business pitfalls, etc.) from watching either of them.

Yeah the UK version is a lot better imo.
I think the original was Japanese though.
 
British one is better if you want to see more business talks. Canadian is better for entertainment value. Both are worth watching.
 
I only like ST because of the new products/services in each episode.

other then that its the same ol bull crap you get from the sharks, I sometimes wonder if the sharks are just acting dramatic just to increase viewer ratings.

I also hate that they do to much editing, in one scene youll see one shark make a comment and then a split second later they show the contestant laughing but I dont think it really happened in that order (type of editing goes on).

I got a kick out of that too, I've never heard anybody try and dress up "I know how to hook up a router" so fancily.

But overall it was pretty cool, my only annoyance was none of the VC people asked the founders what they wanted the money for? Was it to scale capacity, to add sales people, to hire engineers, what? That and the fact that the founders were willing to dilute themselves out of 50% equity in what is essentially an angel round makes me wonder how much of the show is actually real (like most reality TV I think close to none).

I like Dragons Den (the UK version), but a few weeks ago I heard about the American version and watched about 3 episodes.. I'm pretty confident I'll never watch it again. I'm not trying to talk down USA tv because I watch and like a lot of it, but wow this show is too 'american' lol.

Not sure if you guys across the pond know what I mean by that but I'm sure other people from the UK atleast will know what I mean. If you compare the style of Shark Tank and Dragons Den the contrast is crazy.
 
Good point. Although, I'm pretty sure the hippies that tried to pitch bottled llama shit were being 100% serious.

Also doubles as Dragons Den. I think they have another one too. Basically just change up the cast but seems to always have the main guy who sits in the middle and chews people's heads off while enticing them into horrible deals
