Decided to resurrect my old personal blog today, so I'm in the process of moving it to new hosting and will be ripping out all of my old posts and slapping up a basic theme and starting completely fresh (yep, goodbye current 10 uniques a day)

What do you want to read? I'm leaning towards coding and SEO topics, ranging from how to interpret ranking factors and analyzing on page shit and link building techniques to basic PHP scraping tactics and a pretty heavy focus on Ruby techniques, especially on the automation side of things.

Anything else? Inspire me Wickedfire

Basically all of that sounds fantastic. Please do lots of stuff on the automation side, since apparently Bofu has forgotten where the post button is in wordpress.

And uh, what's the URL?

I want to read about traveling from San Ysidoro into Mexico, and if it's safe in Tijuana these days. What are the best places to visit, away from Avenida Revolucion?

Since you're in SD you can cover this. It's my personal interest.

I personally like your topics - but the format is also a good thing to consider.

I LOVE to read case studies when I am trying to learn something.

Haha, take that up with him, not me man. You can probably find him taking review copies in the BST Section

I'll post up the url once 1and1 stops chomping on dick and it finishes updating. I'll have something up this evening most likely.

Fuck man, even before the decapitations I always went straight passed TJ down to Rosarito. I like having both my kidneys the day after drinking.

Maybe I'll do some investigative reporting though, the $5 roundtrip trolley ride to the border is hard to pass up for some good tacos

Yeah, I agree. For the coding things, I'll most likely write up what I did/why I did/the code, then have a little demo running for anything server side.

As for the SEO/Link building stuff, I'll have to plan out how to best do a case study. There's a reason not a lot of case studies exist for those topics ;)

Yeah, go for it. Be fearless, baller. Life with a single kidney is manageable.

I had an amazing day down there last winter with no other gringos in town (they were too scared). The exchange was 13.5 pesos to the dollar (mi di santo!).

GLB

We'll see, I'm whiter than styrofoam, but I'll keep it on the list for an adventure day down the road :)

Hey mr chuk, I see you talking about your blog but I don't see no link dropage in the thread mang.

As regard the topics; well ever since this thread http://www.wickedfire.com/design-de...9-ask-us-about-ruby-scraping-dbs-proxies.html
stirred up a lot of interest in ruby, lets see some basic info on setting up ruby/rails and whatever gems are required to get some sort of scraper going. Try to convey to non ruby coders (myself included) what the advantages are to using ruby for scraping and what it has to offer.

Yeah I know, things not ready yet, as soon as it is I'll drop the link in here.

Sounds good on the Ruby stuff though, I'll start brainstorming some topics. I'll write up some stuff for doing Ruby on Windows as well, cause I know a lot of you guys are on Windows machines and doing Ruby on them is absolutely awful. But there's ways around that without having to come to the Linux Darkside :)
