NEW Facebook Ads

There's all this shit about microtargetting groups of like 100K....... but look at Zynga, they're blasting their ads of Mafia Wars and Farmville to fucking everyone, no? Where's the fucking microtargeting there?

they can afford it

Facebook are retarded for not having employees in every country in the world? Right.

Oh right...because that would cost too much money for a company which now has more visitors than Google.

How stupid of me.

Why the hell does FB give me a suggested bid when I set up all of my ads and then drastically change it once my ads are approved. I am spending all this time creating ads to only have them get hardly any traffic once they get approved. How broad do I need to make my demo in order to get some traffic? My last demo was for men 24-45 and targeted specific states per ad and I still had a huge change in CPC once they got approved.

It could be the time of day, bids are lower at night.

This!!

I am new to this as well, I don't have a problem getting the ads approved but once they are my bid is far too low and I am not getting any hits.:(

After you submit the ads, pause the campaign. So when the ads are approved, they don't start bringing in clicks right away.

If I know I have ads that will yield high CTR based on previous tests, I will always bid within the middle of the suggestion bid, since Facebook will give you a healthy amount of impressions, and if the ad gets a high CTR, it will keep going, and the suggestion bid will go down right from the start. Once this happens, I decrease my bid at the bottom of the suggestion bid, and every day work down a few cents; till I hit a sweet spot.

Bidding low from the very start is not a smart thing to do. And I've seen that even if I had a good ctr ad, but I bid several cents under suggestion bid of the start, that ad still dead off.

Course others on this thread will have a slightly different experience, but this is based what I have seen, for the past year.

Kind of strange.. So I just raised my bid for my campaign I have going right now and just a few minutes ago I had 2K + impressions but now I have 733?

edit - now it just jumped up again.. FB system seems odd

Just started advertising on FB last week, and have
been hitting the $250 limit for the past few days, need
to get it raised, I submitted a request via FB, any reps
here can speed up the process for me or something?

Thanks.

Update: I just realized I can check my account spent limit
under "Billing".

I saw that it's now $2000, so that should be sufficient for
awhile.

Anyone know a good php script which does a GEOIP check so I can redirect FB reviewers in the wrong country?

Just use the default landing page with no tracking when you submit the ad > pause > after review change the redirect back to the tracking url.

Why do you need to redirect them to another country? Such a dumb reason to get banned for cloaking.

anybody's fbads manager shit out?

I gave up on this crap software... Stops working constantly lately and FB (from what my rep has told me) is looking into ways to block tools like this totally.

O well it was only 200 singles. Only the strippers shall weep.

making their platform less revenue

making their platform less revenue

Nah, they realize how much volume they really have and the fact that their review process is still flawed. They simply want to have complete control over who has access to mass ad creation and the likes to prevent people from completely gaming them and upsetting their user-base.

edit: Agreed though, less revenue for them in the short term.

Meanwhile they had featured articles in their advertising newsletter in the past about using the FB Ads Manager in order to help test extensively. Not sure how they can block these kinds of tools really, other than constantly moving fields around and renaming labels like they've been doing.

Well day one is over and I made some money on my first try at this.. I have a feeling this is going to be very addicting for me. My first mistake was not setting up tracking for this first run so I have no idea what ads converted for me.. whoops.
