Ok dude, this is the best tip you can get.

Don't go up and talk to her.

Reasons:

1) you are riding the bus
2) you sound like you don't have a car. At 19 a nice car is at least 60% of the picture.
3) You need to grow some balls.

If the subject of the neg is something she's wearing or carrying the method will bomb. Girls are self conscious same as you, and nobody likes a put-down. Besides, why so much emphasis on fashion, unless you're a Halston or Mr. Blackwell wannabe (gay).

Here's a tip for a newbie: Don't target a supermodel type or girls like the ones in the titty threads - guaranteed fail. Lots of nice girls are looking for a boyfriend, and would love to meet a guy who will treat her well and to have fun with.

Assuming this is a legit post by the o/p... it's just a girl, bro. Be witty, crack a few jokes. Then ask for her facebook or myspace. Yeah people use to ask for numbers but this way she gets to check you out more and after a few days of steady chats get her number.

Not in my experience. Not really a put down, just a joke. Girls are self concious, which is the whole point. You want to throw them off guard. It doesn't have to be about fashion (those were just examples), but what else would you suggest talking about cold?

It's also fun to make fun of other people ("That guy looks like Steve Wagenheim! (or insert other funny looking celebrity here))"
