Racism Double Standard

^1^2^ Whatever the gap there is between the two races. I don't want to be argumentative but there should be a big gap between them. Even today, I think, The white people think they are superior to the black and treat them like shit and the black find themselves in a position to defend their honor ... just what I think of the white and black races.

In India we have Caste system. The upper caste people treat the lower caste people as slaves and the lower caste people find them in a very disadvantageous position. They don't even have most basic rights. In many villages, the upper caste people won't let the lower caste into temples, don't let them drink water from the same sources the upper caste drink from etc.

And the funny part is, The missionaries from the US come over here and change most of these lower classes to Christians by helping them with money or serving their needs. Christian has become a common term to refer to lower class people in many villages in India. Since I belong to the lower class I can tell how it feels like when the so-called upper caste guy call you a lower caste person as if it was a big sin and he had a great advantage over you. I have experienced it myself a couple of times.

And finally the fact is, a lot of these lower classes are economically weak and uneducated. I think there is nothing wrong on the part of government (whether it is India or the USA or any other country... there maybe different types of gaps between the classes in different countries) in encouraging them to become economically and socially strong by giving them reservations and scholarships.

Or would you rather see them be as poor as they always were and be dominated as unnecessarily-usual.

I understand your position, but to base your understanding of race in America on the caste system in India throws it completely out of perspective.

I found this image on Facebook today, as a friend of mines user icon and it made me laugh.

Personally this does not offend me at all, I just find it funny that the above image is "showing pride for ones culture" but this is racist:

Maybe you should look into the history of each symbol before you consider them equal...

The main problem I have with the entire "equality" movement is that you can never create an equal society by pulling up the people at the bottom. You always have to push the people higher up downwards.

At least that is the attitude of most western countries today, and it is extremely damaging in the long run.

I am not saying government have not tried to pull people up, but 90% of legislation has always been about destroying the middle class.

Of course this fits in nicely with creating an entire nation of sheep who are easily controlled, which is why it doesn't surprise me that so many governments have embraced these sorts of policies.

I'm not the least bit racist but I've seen some fucked up shit. 4.0 GPA white girl doesn't get a cent of scholarship or aid while a 1.2 GPA AA male gets full ride, now that's fucked up. Her parents make 40K/year and his make 150K/year, even more fucked up.

The bottom line is all about jumping to conclusions. Just because I "have a shirt on that says white power" doesn't mean I'm a racist. What if my interpretation of the term is that I'm trying to unite white males because we're becoming (if not we're almost already there) the minority in the country? I've seen so many of my friends in college get the shit kicked out of them and because the other kid said "He called me a ni**er" (when he DIDN'T, I was there) and it was "justifiable" and the white student was actually suspended while the other kid was let go completely. The point is if your color is holding you back, it's because you're letting it. Bottom line.

The fucking country isn't about color. You shouldn't get benefits because of yours, or punished because of yours. It's every man (and woman) for themselves, with small cliques and that form (like the paper clique, of course) and work to bring themselves up. I could give a shit if you're black, white, hispanic - whatever, if you're in my way I'm throwing you the fuck out of the way. Anyone who has met me can tell you I'm not a racist what so ever. And I'm sorry too, but some people just act the part.

I talked to one other member here about this at great lengths and theres one point that you need to remember. She threw in how there are more blacks in jail than whites in jail and ... blah blah blah. etc. It's the culture, not the color. If a white guy goes to jail, there are more white people that were raised to comply with the police and help when possible than there were blacks. "I aint no snitch" is a term I heard consistently in college. An AA male is more likely to go to jail for "not snitching" than talking. That's why there's more AA's in jail. It's not the color, or the culture.

Here's the kicker - the culture is what you make of it. If you use it for everything, it holds you back...

I feel like I'm ranting at this point, but at least now I'm awake. The bottom line I'm trying to make is this - your color is nothing but an excuse if you use it as an out. Trust me, I'd love to say "you did this because I'm white" if I get a speeding ticket from an AA policeman or say I didn't get a scholarship because I'm a white male (which... actually is true).

You're not a white american or an african american (unless you're from Africa...) or a hispanic american (etc...)... you're a fucking american. There's no reason for the fucking walls. You're segregating yourself. Don't.

OK now I'm really done. Thumbs up!

Edit: holy shit this is a long post.

For a start, why is everyone going on about Obama being black? I read an article in the UK about the first black CEO of some public company. Great.

I couldn't give a shit if Obama was black or white, or this other dude. They are there for their achievements (though this is debatable :) )

I am sure that is what society is supposed to be about, I shouldn't be constantly told if someone is black, and then called a racist at other times. For fucks sake, either treat everyone the same and claim to be equal, or treat everyone differently but don't claim to be equal.

This is because black people are oppressed, as one person already said. It's like a 'together we stand' type of act. It brings solidarity in the black community.

It happens the world around, and there are plenty of examples:

Black Entertainment Television - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Music of Black Origin Awards - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The opposite of the above two links would = major storms of shite.

I don't think black and ethnic people are discriminated against as much as they used to be. But man, there is still a lot of racism about.

bofu - All of your points are great and valid in an idealistic world with no history. But we are far from there. Over time as racist generations (B&W) die off the younger people with attitudes like yours will take over. "The culture is what you make of it". Excellent.

Besides being a black man here is my theory on the whole thing :)

This is true, and I can't deny that I'm young. I guess I'm a little jaded since my parents raised me to be equal to everyone. =/

BUT YOU'RE JUST HATING ON MY IDEAS BECAUSE IM JEWISH

Funny, because that was my wife's exact situation. :\

I'm Evelyn, I'm black and I approve this! :)

Bits from the Hacker Manifesto apply in this sense as well:
We exist without skin color, without nationality, without religious bias... and you call us [...] judging people by what they say and think, not what they look like [...]

If we're being serious, double standard only exists when both sides are starting on equal footing, since there is a disproportionate balance of power then there is no double standard here.

Now. That being said, I really wish I could get a way with wearing the White Flour T-shirt without getting beat up. Cause that shit is funny and a good sense of humor should always be colorblind.

Edit: And can I say it cracks me up when people say "I'm not racist" for two reasons 1) has anyone come out and said oh by the way I AM racist? I think even skinheads and KKK members say "I"m not racist but those fuckers are asking for it when they do this..." Whatever. 2) EVERYONE has personal racist tendency depending on cultural/environmental shaping. It's part of what makes us human (See discussions on "the Other" phenomenon) I think what actually makes a person NOT racist is if they recognize this, accept it, and work to actively fight against it in themselves.
