Well, first of all, if he doesn't go to a top school, he's fighting an uphill battle to begin with. The legal market blows right now, and firms certainly aren't looking too far outside of the top 14. Even when the market it good, it's still very difficult to land a job when you don't go to a good school.
Too many shitty law schools have opened up. They know they can charge anyone who gets a 150 on the LSAT 45k a year, which leads to a bunch of graduates with over 100k in debt and no job to even begin paying it off. They're fucked. I don't know about the OP's situation, but he's likely paying, so I hope he goes to a better school.
Now, let's say that he goes to a good school. With his GPA he's employable. Nevertheless, he still probably has an insane amount of debt (hopefully not), which will likely force him into a horrible biglaw job, working ridiculous hours all week long with little to no weekend or free time, with partners calling and e-mailing him to do last minute bitch work (while they go out and snort blow off of a stripper's asshole). 99% of these people want to blow their brains out with in a month of being at a biglaw job. The problem is that they have no choice but to stay because of their mountain of debt. In short, it's not worth it unless you truly want to be an attorney. Most kids go because they think it's prestigious and have no fucking clue what to do with their lives (plus, it makes their parents happy).Maybe the OP DOES want to be an attorney, and if that's the case I wish him the best of luck. However, the vast majority of attorneys are miserable, angry fucks who hate their lives. Worst of all, 90% of attorneys make shitty money.
