Hi guys,

I am posting my observations here about a network, its one of oldest and a very good network out there. (If you need to know the name PM me.)

A person contacted me and invited me to signup as his referel over the network. ( I didnt signed up as i am already registered with that network) he tried to convince me that he can help me make 300-400$/ month). After talking to him for a while, i promised him that i will sign up under him as i desperately need money ( I earn way more with the other networks but i just tried to inspect the matter a bit) .. he opened up with me and disclosed to me that he is using proxies and tor ( some program to bypass IP checks) to generate the leads. Gotcha! We chatted more and more after that and he disclosed his strategies to me that how he is doing it. later i asked for a proof of his earnings, he sent me a screenshot of his stats and let me tell ya even a noob can tell that something fishy is going in his account after watching that screenshot. So that confirmed to me that this person is really doing fraud with the company. So i tried to contact network's complaince dept and they asked me for a example. I replied them and told them to ask affiliate from where he is getting traffic and secondly check the lead quality and his statics. Well i didnt heared from them after that. Now what really pissed me off last day when that fraudster again IM'ed me that he got the money for last month and if i am still intrested in starting it? Though money he got is around 400-500$ as he told me but i wonder if this much money aint matter to the company. Even after getting hinted about the fraud he is doing, they still paid him. :zzwhip: Now i think that networks really condone fraud until it start giving them a problem. If advertiser is paying for it, its all cool. If advertiser says that its not going to pay.. suddenly networks get alive and say its fraud.

What you guys think ?

That is probably the trick Ruck or someone from C2M talked in their blog, honestly is it worth scum someone for $500 ? While you make 10 times that monthly ?

$500 is not much and that's why he is under radar, but I think he have dozens of such accounts and it all ads up:)

pubs are getting really smart these days and they will do what it takes to pull one on you.

as an Advertiser, i can tell you that we take fraud very seriously. to the level that we contact each consumer that pubs/affiliates send over to us to ensure that orders are legitimate.

its a battle that hopefully us advertisers will eventually win

Look at it from the network's perspective. On one hand they have an affiliate who has been generating revenue for them consistenly month-by-month for the past while. He hasn't been booted, so in their mind he's doing okay. On the other hand, they get a random e-mail from someone claiming that another affiliate is fraudulent. Who do you really think they'll believe? The pub with a history or someone who comes out of the blue and complains?

Additionally, if your complaint about fraud was written as poorly (no offense intented here) as your post, that will reduce how seriously they take it.

I can tell you that while some networks might not be great at catching cheaters, none of them condone affiliates who generate their own leads. Doing that just puts them at serious risk of non-payment from the merchant.

Anoko,

Forgive my bluntness but your doing nothing but running your mouth over stupid, petty shit which makes no coherent sense.

You want to serve your beloved networks?

Post the name so we can avoid them or stop typing.

Not the network - the frauder.

When i said i am doing pritty well with other networks it meant c2m too. :) Anyways, i know with which networks that fraudster currently is and i will definately contact you if he try to register with your network.

Networks love to lose money, so none of them are very serious about fraud.

PS - don't defraud C2M, they'll feed you to the gators!

I heard if you share your fraud technics with Ruck, then you get to have private access to special offers that you can make $100 per lead with. However you only get paid once a year if you've generated 10 million dollars otherwise you get nothing.

If the fraudster claims to be using Tor and proxies to generate fraudulent leads, and a network doesn't catch them even after it's pointed out to them, that's a pretty pathetic network, or they're knowingly let it happen to an advertiser who doesn't bother checking for fraud or just bakes in a certain fraud % expectation to the price they pay.

Well you did your part and told the network. That guy is a genius sending you screen shots of spoofed leads, common sense is definitely not common.

Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes.

One bad publisher that sends fraud can damage the entire relationship with the advertiser, cause slowed payments or non-payment. Compliance is a very serious issue, I watch everything like a HAWK over here. I have a 10 step process that compliance does every single week (taking about 3 hours a day, even with a private network) to check lead quality.

Agreed. And Ryan hit it on the head - "fraud can damage the entire relationship with the advertiser, cause slowed payments or non-payment"

We've found some clever scammers that only do <5 leads per day and get paid like clockwork because it's too small a blip. I've learned that some of these pubs are doing this with dozens of networks. Maybe not huge dough but it's very very easy dough. So now we're really paying attention to these low-flyers. Checking lead quality and If they don't return calls, IM's nor emails then that's a red flag.
