As some of you are aware... I'm pretty much trailer park trash, that being said, I don't live in a condominium, I don't live in some area thats like prim and proper start up neighborhood with rules like "you can't have red on your porch" (I used to though, hated that).

Well after about two change of ownership of the trailer parks, the new park manager is a real bitch, trying to tow people's cars cuz they're like 1 inch outside of their parking lot. And bunch of other stupid shit.

Well we just got a park newsletter outlining new pet rules, basically a complete overhaul of what's allowed. Keep in mind we live in a trailer park, we're not akin to going out and buying shitzu, pugs, papillons (used to have one), or miniature poodles.

Well these are the new rules regarding dogs.

"As you are aware, we are a pet friendly community. With that said there are some things to remember. We do have restrictions for dogs."

"The maximum weight full grown must be 30lbs or less. Also we cannot allow breeds such as rottweiler, pit bull, akita, doberman, german shepard, chow, great danes, or any dog mixed with any of the above"

"There are many unauthorized pets within our community. Those whom have unauthorized pets will receive a warning letter giving them 24 hours to remove the unauthorized pet from the community. Please remember when considering getting a pet, you must have the pet approved by the park beforehand."

"The community rules remain the same for visitors and guests' pets. If you have a guest with a dog that is not permitted within our community please inform them to leave their pet elsewhere when visiting. For other rules and regulations pertaining to pets please refer to your lease rules and regulations."

We just so happen to own a shepard mix thats 35lb...

wow, that's just not right. I'd challenge that in a heartbeat. I'm sure the rest of the tenants are in the same situation as you are. Band together and fight this

that's crazy. all else fails put the dog on a colon cleanse diet to drop those 5 lbs in 10 hours.

seriously though, that sucks.

If you signed some kind of property/land lease etc they cannot enforce that until it expires more than likely. If a few people have the banned pets then just ban together and tell her you are going to go somewhere else.

Long before some new rules came out, a lot of the tenants were going around and collecting stories and petition signatures against the new park manager, ranging on a wide variety of BS incidents. There's a house down the street, grand parents who take care of a crippled kid, so they got this big ass handicap ramp out in front of the mobile home, well his mother came by to visit for like 5 minutes, and they towed her car cuz it was 2 inches into the street, and didn't even warn her.

Or the other day the park office called child protective services on our neighbor cuz her 8 year old was running around the park with a bunch of other kids without adult supervision (the playground area just happens to be in the middle of the park next to the park office...) Apparently the reason for the "concern" is because a registered sex offender lives in a home right near the playground area...

They fired the old park maintenance guy who was always outside working almost like 24/7 cuz he was never on time... yet the park manager was never in the park office during open office hours, nor ever answered the phone. And when she is in the office with the office "open" sign hanging up, she has the door locked.

So on, and so on.

What State are you in? Some states (most) have laws stating that sex offenders can't live close to public parks/play areas /schools. So your park is at fault for allowing that person to live there.

Also many states have laws that protect tenant rights. (for instance you can't be evicted in california without a set period of time and a notice).

What often happens is low income housing facilities abuse tenant since most "low income people" don't want to attract attention from authorities.

Seriously though, look into your local city, county and state tenant rights. Then find a racial leader who is of a different decent from the new manager... get them involved and they might champion your cause.

PS I should have just written an article instead of this post, damn blabber fingers.

Karl, as you know, I hate your worthless, whiny, trailer park ass with every fiber of my being. Furthermore, I will frolic naked in my yard in pure joy the day that they finally turn your electricity and internet off for good.

That being said...this lady sounds like a real bitch. 24 hours to get rid of your dog?! That's fucking bullshit!

What is a park manager anyway? Is that different from the owner? If so, can't you guys complain to whoever that is?

I can tell you right now, that their notice will have no basis in court. I have done property management and been to court countless times trying to evict the tenants etc, so I know that they dont stand a chance to take action. Just because, the management changed doesn't mean the agreement changed. If you had an agreement (even a verbal one, to which the previous company can confirm) with previous company, the new company must honor that unless they tell you that they wish to do a new agreement with you at which point you can negotiate your terms.

Or serve her up at the next community BBQ... I kid (hey, they didn't say how we had to remove them...).

Damn stole the joke from under my feet. I mean if you live in a trailer park that has to be some good eats, right?

Time to round up everyone with an pet not within regulation and anyone else that will stand with you and go fight for your right to NOT server your dog for dinner.

Hell I'd like to round up everyone that has an unauthorized dog, just to bring all the dogs right into the park office (after they've played in the mud or whatever) just so we can ask her all at once "is this an authorized breed?"

Bwahaha DO it! Make sure you flip it and slap it up on youtube. Guaranteed promoted to first page.

Is there an association? I live in a condo and we have a home owners association that deals with, works with and figures stuff out with the property management team, since we only own the walls in.

I'd also consult an attorney.

Some of the breeds on there make no sense. Akita and Alsatians are actually really good antured breeds that are easily trained. Due to ease of training, they;re often trained to be guard dogs... but naturally, they're quite playful. We're thinking of getting an Akita to be a companion for our Chow. Those Asians like to stick together, you know :D

Seriously though, can they retro-actively apply these rules?
A lot of people would have had their pets before the new owner had the ownership, and their purchasing decision for what is effectively a member of the family would have been made in the consideration of the previous rules, not the possibility of new ones.

I'd say as a last ditch attempt, any one with a dog that's over the weight allowance should all just get together outside the manager's office, and get them all to attack the bastard.
[edit]Damn, beat me to it

So are pit bulls and chows if trained properly, but they still get a bad rap from poor owners. Even a mutt could be worse than your stereotypically fierce pit bull if they got shitty owners.

We need to get someone mauled by a pack of poodles to reset the standards. :D

It is funny or sad depending on how you look at it, that people blame certain dogs and not the dogs owners when something bad happens.

Kinda like looking at a tiny blind chihuahua shaking all frail and you can't help but imagine rearranging the furniture every 2 weeks just so you can see it freak out as it jumps up onto a non-existent couch. Now seriously, that can't make me a bad owner.... </sarcasm>

:p (now try to tell me you didn't laugh...)

Poodles, all sizes, are actually right up there on the lists of "most dangerous breeds". As for the manager, I would be working on having her removed at the earliest convenience. Compile a case against her and bring complaints with the owner/management company to have her ass canned.

Ermm Karl, why teh fuck are you living in a trailer park anyway?

(I'm really surprised no one has asked this yet)
