Wait what? You are collecting email addresses and sending unsolicited emails of commercial nature. And not just once, but multiple times. I suggest you "try" harder not to spam, as in, you know, actually do something about it and not send out emails about your shitty network. I'm definitely interested in hearing what you "tried" doing to not spam me. Or is your definition of "trying" different from everyone else?

And I don't even have a fucking clue what in the world you mean with the virus part. Or are you proud of the fact that your spam doesn't contain viruses?

I think he honestly doesn't understand what email spam is. He's assuming it is email with viruses, not UCE.

@lidango, you never, ever, ever spam someone you want to have a lasting relationship with. That is BH 101. And email spam is not cold calling.

no not at all... trying to say... this is a method used for years by networks to recruit, it is not meant to piss anyone off... Also said, i understand the frustration and took it into consideration and it won't happen again...

Why would i tell people to fuck off?

Thats funny, I've been doing this for years and this is the first time I've had a network repeatedly spam me for business. Normally they do things like ... advertise on forums, or go to affiliate conventions, buy me drinks at said conventions and EARN my business. Typically spamming a bunch of online marketers doesn't work.

I have also been doing in this business for years and I do not appreciate anyone who would spam my inbox either... Its annoying and it pisses me off as well.

The point here was not to upset anyone or try to spam anyone but simply follow method that i know other networks use, as I also get recruit mails from networks.

Did we fuck up? Yes. So please accepts my apologies Did not mean to spam, annoy or piss off anyone.

It won't happen again

let me educate you on how to do your job.

I posted a thread to point out the fact that I am annoyed with your network's practices and there is a buzz going around about how spammy you guys are being with getting new affiliates.

After I posted it, there were several responses made that agreed that you guys are crossing the line between "performing your manager's (illegal and desperate) 'tactic' and being spammers."

At that point your response should have been to post a polite "guys i'm sorry you feel that way we were not aware that so many of you were receiving multiple emails, we're going to discuss this in-house and make sure it stops. We value our relationship with affiliates and want to ensure that we remain on a positive level with you guys."

:question4:Why do you respond this way?
Your reason for spamming whois guards is to get new affiliates, create new relationships and bring in more money right? Well, we are the affiliates you're looking for (you are not talking to small fish). We are responding to your requests by asking you to leave us alone for a while.

Therefore, any AM with a brain would realize, 'ok, at this point my manager's "tactic" that is supposed to HELP us is actually HURTING us. So that means we should stop said "tactic" and think of another way to get new affiliates like going to conferences, going to parties, shaking some hands and making some real connections with these guys.

Instead you came out and said

This statement to me, translates to "I understand we are pissing you off but we don't give a fuck."

As a result of your response

  1. you have made your network look foolish, desperate and unfriendly
  2. The thread is now starting to rank verrrrry high on Google for your companies brand name
  3. I can guarantee you some affiliates, including myself have decided to never send you traffic
  4. I can guarantee you there is at least one affiliate so pissed that he is talking to an attorney about suing you for violating the CAN-SPAM act
If you have any questions about how to be a good AM I would suggest you talk to the guys at the other networks that post here... because they all get this shit completely and receive oceans of traffic in return. WITHOUT having to spam whoisguards to get it.
 
Clocks I'm an aff manager as well, but I'm finding myself in agreement with the sentiments expressed by AffAholic and the rest.

If you can't find a way to figure out someone's genuine email address for a site, and there are numerous ways to go about it, then just don't contact them.
Now, every affiliate thinks they're a clever bastard, and here at WF, it holds true most of the time, but people are people, and there's always going to be a fuckup somewhere along the line and most people don't think to scrub their tracks retrospectively.
Check for other sites residing on the same IP, look for connections between them all, look for addresses registered to the same corp, follow the corp information back to purchase of server space, etc.
Even then, that's some pretty stalky shit and only proves that you're willing to go to some effort, but are also a potential danger to the affiliates privacy and still not a guarantee they're going to want to sign up.

The only people that manage to stay off the radar completely are the ones that are deep enough in the game to not even need the networks in the first place.

Yea I realize maybe a bit too late that the response was more trying to justify the behavior rather then explain that we actually did not mean to spam and do apologize for it.

It came out completely wrong on my end.

So again, sorry for that; you can be sure it won't happen again.
 
Me too, but now I am getting them from Clickbank as well. Cut that CRAP out! If I didn't respond the first time, I am not interested.

Stop sending me more junk that just makes me want to find your office and pee on your door handles silently in the night.
 
Just something to think about.... When you are the best in the Biz, everyone knows it and there is no real need to push campaigns like this... IMHO

Whens the last time you got spammed like this from CX Digital or Copeac or Azoogle?
