I know that clicktale can be great to see what your visitors are doing and understand the concept of heatmaps etc.

Any pointers on how to get the most out of the beast?

Also if anyone wants to drop a link I will sign up under them when I decide to get it.

yeah im using the free version.

The first time I started watching people on my site I couldnt stop laughing. Some of the things people do hahaha!

Its taught me to make ALL images clickable - sheeple click on the dumbest thing.

Just wondering how to get the maximum value out of the data.
 
you're making me want to check it out. i've just been gathering data.

half of the reason i got it was to laugh at the way people react to my whorish sites.

what do you think about the feature that tells you how far most people scroll down the page? should be the ultimate for floggers.

yeah its pretty cool to see how little attention most people pay to the text.

Key areas as you would expect are the top of the page - above the fold and also the very bottom of the page.

Those results are results you would expect without the clicktale data so yeah - is there any other way to really get more insights out of it?
 
At work we've had the paid version going for about 6 months. Unfortunately I don't have the login credentials so I can do any type of analysis and the guy who does never does any type of analysis to come up with some action plans.

Ahhh, corporate waste.
 
I'm going to get this -tx. The interesting part is that if you are building niche sites, it seems you can use your analysis to develop optimized templates that can be rolled out.

I'm gonna work on bounce rate, maybe ad placement and also af. links....

Also, I want to make sure what "I' am seeing and "what they see" gets better matched.

I ran a mini test with my mother once. And she shed light on the fact that we see stuff really different since we are in the biz....got to see stuff like the do....
 
Screw crazy egg, clicktale is the shit.

Theres so much shit you can learn from just watching 10 visitors browse your site.

I use the free version on one of my sites and when i have scaled enough i will upgrade to the yearly version A.s.a.p.
