They write them.

If you want to have financial success, learn economics.

Start to consider equilibrium, capital theory, labor theory, supply+demand and incentives.

Understand marginal cost, the subjective theory of value, and the basics of money and credit. Oh and the division of labor.

Economics is the study (social science) of human action. It's not boring. It's understanding the story of man up to this point, with a keen eye to understanding the future as it begins right now.

And if you want some philosophy that helps you with business, then certainly take the time to learn about rational egoism. Most successful people pretend to be altruists, because that is what keeps the media and the masses off their asses, but deep down, anyone who is able to sustain success is a rational egoist. It is impossible to sustain dumb luck or karma over long periods of time. It must be purposeful, and motivated by an inclination to (first) profit and then later show goodwill and social conscience through a deeper understanding of trade.

I don't think it was necessarily self help books but Bill Gates I seem to recall is fairly well renowned for taking 1-2 weeks a year and going to someplace quiet purely for a 'reading week' with all the books he didn't get time to read otherwise.

I've read that lot of successful people don't require as much sleep as other people, so even if they work a really long day they still have time to read a couple hours a day. I remember Donald Trump is like that for example.

I doubt the real monsters read self-help books though. They're usually the ones being modelled by other people.

Bill Gates reads like a book every day.

And sure, there are people that don't read books and are still successful but they either surround themself with successful people, or have an innate ability to know what people want and deliver it.

lol @ this thread. "do successful people read?" give me a fuckin' break. god damn retards.

Yup you are right. He mentioned it in an interview.

I dont read bullshit self help books but I read alot about almost everything else. Doesn't have to be related to business for you to gain something from it.
I have about 500 books in my home library, not alot by some people's standards. Most bought for $2 at markets.

Reading novels for leisure? Prob not. Reading everyday about their industry or things actually pertaining to them..... def

I once read somewhere that most CEO's read something like a book a week

Depends on your definition of "Successful" and "Read"

Professional CEOs are a dime a dozen and experts in fucking up public corporations. I'd not call them exactly successful people.

Self-made entrepreneurs who are earning billions running their own companies are what I'd call successful -- and most of them are busy doing stuff rather than reading about how to do stuff.

Warren Buffet has been quoted as saying he spends most of his day reading.

After watching the TV202 interview Wes did with Ryan Pamplin from Ryactive it dawned on me that reading WickedFire is killing my productivity. I have to stop it.
I find that anytime I become bored or just want to find something to do I head over to WickedFire and check out the new posts. This is holding me back. I need to start doing more and reading less.

I think reading helps.'Self help' books, are good too. I would call it more like 'self improvement', everyone can improve.

What about Tony Robbins? Do audio tapes count as reading? I like his infomercials they get me pumped. Been thinking about checking out his stuff. (I know, its kinda gay, huh).

My goto book is, Think and Grow Rich, By Napoleon Hill
First published in 1937. Still good today.

I should've been a little more specific. I have to stop spending as much time reading WickedFire as much as I do. And I've been somewhat successful so far. I've probably cut my time in half already.
