So I found a keyword that is completely retarded and won't have any relevance to any offer at all, but get's several million hits a day and doesn't have any competition.

What would you do with it? If I can keep my quality score up I could run ads for nothing and get shit tons of traffic for a fairly generic offer (weightloss or whatever).

Obviously register a domain with that keyword. Any other ideas? Just dump an image with some generic offer in a link? Write some nonsense text to make it look relevant?

See what demographics the keyword is pulling in, from there you should be able to figure out where you can start. If it's not so obvious check out the first few sites in the SERPS and run them through quantcast.

This should be in the noob section.

If it has several million hits per day make a product to market to whatever the keyword is.

Recently found myself in the same position (not several millions though). No offers available so I made an audio course in mp3. Push traffic to it process through paypal.

This is a far better long term approach than finding affiliate offers anyway, you're building an actual entity of value.

Good Luck

This is definitely the best option by a long shot

I think globefrog had a good answer.

Also, why not try Adsense and see what it brings up? Sometimes when I get some search traffic that I cannot see how to monetize in a really good way - Adsense is still a "next best thing" solution. And sometimes the Adsense ads lead me to a better solution.

For instance, I got some traffic related to something that is related to gambling - which I don't want to get into. But while it is tougher (or maybe I am dumb) to find US gambling programs that are legal, you can advertise US casinos that operate legally. Google runs those ads too...

Just do things until a good idea comes to you.

Like M0rtal said if you can find out what demo it brings you should be able to figure out which offers will do well
