Hello everybody,

This will be my first post.

I am quite new to marketing, to be honest I only understand the basics. I want to advertise the company that I work for, but I just don't know if what I am doing is right or wrong.

The owners of the company want a banner campaign, but they don't want to do click 2 pay, They want to do pay a monthly.

Is this possible? Can it be done through an agency?

Should I look for the sites myself?

Thank you for all the help!

What does "they want to do pay a monthly" mean?

Do you mean they want to pay a monthly fee? I don't think that's possible. Usually its cpm or cpc. There is no flat rate for unlimited clicks/imps per month, am I wrong?

Some websites you can rent space for a month. However there is no guarantee of return on the money spent. It is a trial and error situation. You better off start looking for sites in the same category of the business you want to promote and contact the webmaster directly.

That's what I thought... so I guess this is going to be even harder than what I thought...

ppc is the way to start otherwise you're going to blow through a lot of cash (specially since it sounds like you don't know what you're doing) before you become profitable.

Banner advertisement (whether ppc or not) is an artform that takes some time to get good at. It's very rarely as easy as slap the banners up and start making money.

What I finally decided is to first look at what the competition is doing, they have stated now that they already did PPC, and that's the direction they want, so I have to go to the infinity of sites, and see where they advertise, and try to get them put up our banners, this of course will be done after I define which of this sites are actually worth to even look at.

I plan on having the banners up for 1 up to 3 months before I can decide which sites to keep, and then when the season for my branch of the market comes I expect to spend a real amount on the sites that worked the best for me.

What do you guys think?

Does the plan have flaws that I don't see due to lack of inexperience?

Can I make this better?

Am I ignoring details?

If you mean you are going with PPC then just go with PPC. When you start a new campaign, rather it is with Google, Yahoo or MSN, always remember to TURN OFF! the content advertising. The keywords used in content advertising are completely different then PPC

This is getting into a lot of information, more then I care to type in my current drunken state, but, seriously, read every single article here. It is an amazing wealth of information about how PPC and content advertising works. Starting from Nov 5, 2007, to present, print all the articles out, then read them. I swear that you come away from it understanding PPC, content advertising and everything in between.

If you DON'T read them, you are a fool. This is everything you'll ever need. And I'm only telling you this because I am drunk, have had a great blow job and am feeling alright.

Thank you Infinite Keith I will most definitely read all the articles, but no, I am not going with PPC, I am going to contact webmasters and have them charge a flat rate, a monthly one, or pay for 3 months. As I mentioned before, the company's investors already worked with PPC and apparently it did not worked out that good.

So, what do you think about going where the competitors are advertising? And the rest of my ideas?

Am I leaving something out?
