How To Beat The New QS System?

There is a major factor that no one is mentioning here. When someone clicks your ad, sees your landing page, then hits the back button real quick, google will know this and your QS will take a big shit. Make sure your landing page holds their interest, matches what your ad says (especially the headline).

If you use tracking202, turn on 'show all clicks' (not only real clicks). Occasionally you'll see the click happy schmuck click your ad. Go to your LP. Click your offer link super fast (he didn't read shit) and then hit the back button all the way back to google. You'll see a red icon and his IP address again when he does this. Google will log this info as well.

This is most likely to happen with an ad that promises absolute bullshit that is irresistable and must be clicked. Of course they'll click, and of course they'll hit the back button when they confirm your ad was untrue.
so you believe user experience is the main reason that determine quality score?

Hmm that's interesting. Makes you wonder if more "accurate" ad copy that generates a lower CTR, but better quality visitors might be preferrable?

Dude, did you not read my reply??

To ppl who think you need a blog and good CTR, i had a blog with over 400 posts and an ad with CTR over 10%, and still got slapped. I also had a CTR on my page of 70-80 percent, so not a high bounce rate...

Like i said in the above post, i think it has to do with with the quality and accuracy of what you are offering. Your margines may go down. But if you can write some good copy, you'll still be profitable. And you won't get slapped (at least from my experience)

Just for fun try this.

add the KW - Cream cheese or boomerang.

Tell me what QS googleword gives you.

I get a 5/10 for any site I have tried this on.

IF the true intent was user quality, then only the conversion rate would be considered.

No I don't think thats the main reason, but it certainly plays a role based on my testing. It makes sense too. Remember google tracks your surfing habits more than ever now.

there is some funkyness goin on today with QS

There isn't a doubt in my mind we're all guinea pigs. I am experiencing consistent 20% - 30% CTR on semi-long tail keywords and while my QS goes up, my damn CPC goes up too!!

I think this might just be a bidding war though and not necessarily google's fault. Haven't figured out yet.

I've recently gotten a few adgroups to perfect 10/10 scores and the thing is I really didn't do anything different from when they were 8/10s.

The only thing that was different was that my campaign ran steadily, for a few weeks without ever maxing out my daily spend, without ever running out of money.

I think you have to do all the basic stuff like have a relevant keyword, ad, landing page and good ad CTR but it could also have to do with the overall quality score of your entire account (i've heard there is one) the over all quality score of your campaign (i've heard there is one of those too), the amount of money you spend a day with Google and the length of time you've been spending $$.

most of my keywords start at 5/10 and jump up within a day or two to 6 or 7, then I have to start working at it.

I'm not so sure about the whole user experience thing. Aside from how quickly the user hits the back button and returns to Google, there isn't anything else they can track. And they sure as heck don't manually review every landing page and manually assign sign kind of score or penalty if they don't like your site or offer.

For awhile I was using Google conversion tracking. Conversions are insane on my site, and Google knew this. That obviously means people clicking my ads love my site. But it didn't matter. I have since started using different tracking systems and removed the google conversion code and it made no difference.

I'm wondering if everything is just all screwed up right now due to the recent changes and things might settle back down soon. It's just retarded what's going on right now. I have an ad group with nothing but keywords related to my brand and domain, with an ad that mentions my brand and uses my domain in the URL. All my keywords in this ad group are poor. For my own brand/site name. That's just retarded. There is no more relevant site on the entire internet for these keywords!

My site offers a cool free service, so I use Free in my headline and ads. Recently someone told me that Google absolutely hates when you use the word free in your ads, because they figure anyone paying for advertising isn't offering something for free. I'm going to try new ads that don't use the word Free. Anyone else using Free in their ads and get hit big time lately?

you're right, the new QS system makes it's harder to make profit...anyone would like to share their techniques with the new adwords system? Recently I advertised my biggest site on adwords just to test the new system. On one keyword (well it's a competitive one but not super competitive) i could get CTR as high as 6-7% and I'm paying $1 per click. Yet, my QS is still 6/10. I'm quite sure people do not click the back button immediately after they visit my site because this site (my biggest one) is very informative and accurate. It makes me the most profit from natural traffic.

Oh one more, my ad position is always 5-10 with the new QS system. Can't breakthrough to the top 3 anymore...maybe I can if I pay $2 per click but that'll make my campaign not profitable

So I have a QS of 5/10, but it says I'm not meeting the min bid of $10 for the first page.. makes NO sense. 5/10 usually is decent enough to get on the first page.. maybe what I'm doing is really competitive?

man its the same old bollox. everytime google "improves the user experience" they somehow also seem to rinse me for more money. funny that. wankers.

Goog blows goats.

I still use them (barely), but I'm putting more and more energy and money into alternative advertising every day (no, not branded fleshlights =)

I would guess you have a really low CTR on this. Am I right?

Pic related, it's for one of my keywords. :eek7:
