New ebay site with PHPbay pro

I have a decent niche that prices range wildly ($2 - $1000) what I do in BANS is set it to only display items with values over $9.89, I was getting hammered with 5-15 cents commisions on really low valued items. Can you do that in PHPbay? It's something to think about anyways.

My sales have actually increased since moving to EPN and my ACRUs have gone up as well. Maybe I am just getting better traffic.

Gordon I like your sites and I am using phpbay pro through your link and the ajaxBurlee theme. I installed all the plugins.
A couple questions on the theme.
How do you get rid of the "continue reading" and just display the post?
Also,
Its working great on IE all links work.
(only on firefox) the home page works great except when you hit any link it hangs on with a gear icon in the top left.. Any idea why?
Thanks,
Nick

The Gear icon comes from the Cache in the Theme options, not sure why it hangs though, i turned it off as it took too long for me.

You can remove the Read More link by editing the theme files.

If you give me 2 minutes i'll find you the bit to take out.

In Index.php find (the "Continue reading" bit will prob be different):
PHP:
<?php the_content('Continue reading »'); ?>
Replace with:
PHP:
<?php the_content('','FALSE',''); ?>

You know, after reading this thread I almost took some time today to set up a new site. I was really into eBay last year with CJ, but lost interest...

But then I read all of the threads on the eBay forum. So many complaints... Nobody seems to be happy: eBay Forums: eBay Partner Network (English)

Screw that. Until eBay fixes the obvious tracking issues, I'm not touching this with a ten foot poll.

Although, it sucks to see the tracking issues the earlier you set this site up the faster it'll get indexed for when ebay fixes the tracking.

i have heard about people complaining about commissions. I haven't noticed anything. I'm already over $320 this month...

Also, it will take a few weeks to get indexed, so the quicker you set up your site, the better...

I've got 1 starter site that was getting sales every other day in March and April. I received $0 after april 17, and switched to the ebay network from cj on the last day of April.

With cj i made $42 in March with 259 clicks, and was up to $35 in April with 267 clicks.

I've had over 300 clicks since signing w/ the ebay network the start of May and have made $2.29.

Something is definitely fucked.

Here's something I wonder about. Do the cookies really work for ebay? Yes, I know technically they work, but think about it, when someone lands on your site for puplewidgets they click a specific purple widget, they may or may not bid on it at that time, (they may just "watch" it) then the next day either they are sent an email from ebay about their watched item or they directly type "ebay" into their browser. They wouldn't go back to purplewidgetbids.com. So really you gotta hope they bid immediately and that it's a max bid and that that max bid wins, yes?

Well the cookie is supposed to last for 7 days. So if they bid and win on anything on ebay within 7 days of going thru your site you get the commission. But if they go to greenwidgets the next day your cookies are wiped and greenwidgets gets the commission. As they say the last cookie wins.

So they don't have to bid immediately to get commission from them. That is if ebay's tracking is perfect.

Did you write the content (golf articles) yourself? Or did you get somebody else to write the articles?

I've setup ebay sites in the past but, I'm not good at writing content so it keeps me from completing the projects since I have to get somebody else to write the content and not always sure if I want to make the investment.

Where is your site ranking, how many uniques a day are you getting? Have you done any other SEO work, backlinks etc.?

Thanks

But what if they click on another affiliate's cookie? Who takes priority?

Always the last one. If a user gets to ebay through your site but tomorrow he gets to ebay through my site I get the commission. The cookie is always overwritten.

It still doesn't make alot of sense. What if they go through your site initially and bid on an item. Then have to continue to bid later? They're not going to go back through your site to continue to bid, they'll just go to ebay.com.

It's a 7 day cookie (I think) so you would get any commissions for those days. No matter what they buy.

For those running forums, I recommend installing this: Rewrite eBay Links - vBulletin.org Forum

It basically rewrites all your user posted ebay links to have your aff ID in them. Depending on your niche, your users may already be active ebay members -posting and purchasing away. It is the most subtle advertising you can do.....

Not to hijack, but for those running vbulletin there is a mod that can rewrite all ebay links to have your aff ID inside. Depending on your niche and traffic, this can make a bit of cash in some very subtle advertising. This is as easy as installing the mod and dropping your ID in.....

I would post the link however it will get flagged, just search for "vbulletin ebay".

So I'm trying this out. I'm with resellerzoom and I had to have them install ioncube. I tried putting my php.ini filie public_html and wp-content/plugins/phpBay/includes/ and still can't get the damn thing installed, does anyone have any experience with this kind of stuff?
