in short, i need a cell phone.. but i want one that I can do some affiliate marketing, web dev., programming on while on the road.

i thought an iPhone might be good for this, or maybe a blackberry.. so I come to you for help!

what do you guys have or use for this?

i say iPhone. I have one and it is spectacular. Also note that i hate MAC computers, so it is a real blessing for them to have me buy an iPhone. Soon apple will be releasing their SDK (Software Development Kit) for public use. That means many third party software developers can write software for iPhone and actually have it be installed on regular iPhones, not Unlocked, or unbricked or fucked or chucked or anything...So with the capabilities that can come out of that, i would go iPhone. The only drawbacks is that if you are on the road and not near a wifi connection, then the Edge network can kinda be slow...it is defenitely managable though!

I have an iPhone. Let me just say, programming on the iPhone would take a hell of a lot of patience.

iPhone...the new software development kit being made available is a dream come true for iPhone users. It will allow third party apps to be installed "Legally" on iPhone with their support. The sky is the limit with that.... The only drawback is the slower Edge network that it is on. I have an iPhone and its spectacular!!

If you want to program and shit like that, probably a Blackberry or something like that.

I have an iPhone and a Voyager, both are good phones but I wouldn't do any design or anything on them.

You don't want an iphone for that. Anything running windows mobile (not smartphone) should be good. HTC Mogul is a good one

I just received my Asus Eee PC. It's got a 7 inch screen with a preloaded linux OS but ASUS has directions to installing Windows XP. It weighs a mere 2 pounds. Seriously I take this thing everywhere. My lectures I just sit it down on the desk it takes up barely any space and just record the professor. I cant find a better deal for a ultra mobile PC than this. Theres different models but the one that I got is the 4GB Black w/ webcam. Theres also an 8GB model. Both of these can take more memory however the lowest model, 2GB, cannot swap out ram because it's soldered on the board itself.

Best $400 i ever spent:

Dont be confused by the kids either this PC isnt a childs toy :)

let me clarify...

im not going to be putting something like dreamweaver or photoshop on it... but i would need something that at least allowed SSH so I could login and edit files by hand. these edits would be to simple files on the server.

it would not be heavy editing, making small changes if needed on the road to these files would be it.

Basically what I assume you will run into with an iphone is lack of a keyboard. Touch screen doesn't exactly make for swift typing in my experience, but I'm sure some apple fanboy might tell me differently now that stevie j touched it.

*yawn* My ~2 year old 700m weighs right at 4 lbs and is not much bigger. Yeah, the Asus is kinda cool, but it's hardly revolutionary or worth the hype.

That's kinda what I feel about the new mac laptop. I had a Sony Vaio about 6 years ago that was less than an inch thick and weighed a little over 3 pounds. and that thing had a removable battery. Sony shoulda stuck that thing in an envelope and made nerds go wild.

I have 2 iPhones with vnsea on to login to my windows boxes remotely to work and SSH on the other to login to linux boxes

i can work virtually from anywhere, although the ATT network is a bit slow. waiting on the 3G versions .
