Silva busted for Roids.

Fedor? The greatest GOAT of all time? Srs?

Conor McGregor would like to have a word with you.

Jon Jones failed a drug test for cocaine and got fined.
Vitor Belfort failed repeated drug tests and is getting a title shot.
Silva himself has said if you test positive for steroids you should be banned and that it's bad for the sport. He should eat his own words.
There needs to be harsher penalties for cheaters. The problem is the UFC doesn't care enough. Silva was even allowed to fight when they knew he failed his drug test.

not sure if serious, greater penalties if found out do you mean? they *all* cheat. You cant be at the top of the game and not be on anything when the rest are

The problem isn't that the UFC doesn't care - it's a business and exists to make money. The problem, at least as I see it, is that the people that watch want every fight to be better than the last. They want fighters to be bigger, faster, stronger, tougher, etc. by at least a little bit every time. You see the same thing at the pro level of any sport. People want exciting games played by superstars with abilities that are beyond normal. Nobody wants to pay to see a friendly, slow paced, low scoring competition regardless of the sport. Like anything else, they don't care about what it takes to get there, and deep down most know that it can't be done naturally. They don't care - as long at it remains a secret.

I think that's what bothers me about any steroid related witch hunts. The public basically demands that pro athletes take them (by way of voting with dollars/tickets), then demonizes the athlete when it comes to light that they are.

There difference been roids and clean isn't night and day. Some of the fighters are clean.

However, I agree that Zuffa's testing policies are terrible, they are practically encouraging the use of testosterone. Just look at JJ and DC's T/E Scores, they were unnaturally low. That's because a high T/E ratio = ban, but luckily they don't test for the "E" which is used to mask the higher "T."

Not all of them take performance enhancing drugs. Some fighters are sober ex-addicts that stay away from drugs altogether.
I will say though that most are cheating, they're just better at hiding it.

I don't believe for a second there's a single professional athlete that is at the top that hasn't used steroids at some point in bulking up. They might be preaching clean now but guarantee they'll be right back at it if they think another cycle will up their game a year from now.

I knew a lot of guys going into college sports that were on them at the advice of their mentors. It's so easily available in those circles.

I don't see how its so hard to fathom that some of these fighters don't do drugs or haven't ever done drugs? Ben Henderson claims he's never tasted even a drop of alcohol: The Benson Henderson Diet | UFC &reg - News

For some of them it's about being healthy and being on the top of their game at the same time. A lot of them grew up in the "straightedge" hardcore punk scene... Danzig, CM Punk (LOL), or are former heroin addicts like Court McGee or Matt Brown that have since cleaned up their lives.

I wouldn't be surprised if at least 80% of fighters on the UFC roster has done or is doing some kind of PED on WADA's list. Good drug testing is expensive and nobody really cares.

My guess would be most UFC fighters would be on roids. That's not a bad thing in my mind, that just what world class athletes do. How do you think you become world class?

Wasn't this the reason GSP basically "quit" - too much rampant roiding and weight cutting/gaining...?

Not sure why they even bother with Urine tests.

Mike Tyson admitted to using the whizzinator to fight drugged.

He blamed a $200,000 (pounds 126,000) fine for testing positive for marijuana after a 2000 fight against Andrew Golota in Detroit on the fact that he was tested before having a chance to get the ‘whizzer’ from a member of his team, whom he claims typically carried the device from fight to fight.

Football players have been busted with them....why should any other sport be different?

I'm actually impressed if that thing is able to keep the urine in the right temperature range to pass a standard UT. (and also by the generous girth for the white dick)
