Haven't hired a VA in years. What are some of the sites now to hire decent VA's. I would need someone to compile research about youtube channels, content, and subscribers.

I do a lot of hiring through just Craiglist in whatever country I want work from. Just started up again this past week and lots of good hires.

I have done onlinejobs.ph too which is good. Of course Odesk (eh sometimes), EasyOutsource has a dumb fee now and not worth it - used to be good.

Edit:
This was posted on here before, but I practice this pretty closely: http://s3.appsumo.com/AppSumo Hiring.pdf

Never thought of putting an ad in that country. What I need is just fairly basic work. Doing Youtube searches and making a spreadsheet. I also don't want to pay a fortune for basic research.

Nice post on the pdf thanks

Edit: Damn I regged onlineworkers.ph and I don't want to pay $49 just to post a job ad :\
Damn, Craigslist is $25 bucks too

Yes, onlinejobs.ph is $49. Craigslist shouldn't cost money? Where are you posting the job?

I will try the Gigs section now.

I use oDesk for practically everything.

You just need to understand the environment of the site and hiring in general. Not only do you want to find the top talent/skill for the job, you want to be attractive to them.

I get high quality shit pumped out for $2/100 words including oDesk fee. Some insight:

-I hire individually for each site/niche. Specify the niche in the title. The 35-60 year old women be lining up for food content. Oh you cook vegetarian for your family? Fanfuckingtastic. Pulling writers who are interested and knowledgeable on your topic versus pushing your shit on someone who churns out anything from toilet plungers to quilting makes a big difference.

-I make the job posts very pleasant, fun, and approachable with all expectations clearly laid out so I'm not wasting my time with anyone expecting different.

-I note it's for recurring work versus just a big lump. Makes a big difference in the talent attracted.

-No UK or Australian people (unless your traffic is predominantly from there). First world, North American English only. u got that m8? sware on me mum.

-I'll trial multiple people who had decent samples and hope one of them impresses. If not, politely tell them they were inadequate and repost the job.

-Try both the article and blog writing section along with website content.

-Provide a template for each site that outlines things like the ideal tone, formatting, and structure etc.

-Have a good client rating. Most of the low end third world workers don't care if you're a 3 star or a 5 star as long as they're getting paid. But first world people get off on that stuff. I rock a 5 star simply due to being honest, blunt, and respectful. Even if I give a mishap a <5 they still drop me a 5.

With that little bit of extra effort I've saved thousands of dollars on content. The above is also very transferable when sourcing for other jobs/tasks as well.

I'll keep that info in mind bauss. I'm basically trying to gather information on channels with similiar content to mind.

1. Do searches for keywords
2. Find as many channels as possible that have related content
3. List their number of videos
4. List their number of subscribers
5. List the number of comments per video
6. List all links to videos

Secondary job
1. Using the list from job 1
2. Go through the links and comments
3. Make a list of all commenters
4. Make a list of all the channels / videos they commented on and subscribed to that are related to my keywords
5. List all of the comments in the spreadsheet
6. Highlight the ones who mentioned buying or paying money in their comments

would this be an mturk job, odesk or craigslist?

Can't you accomplish any of this using your new ballin python skillz?

Hire someone to create a scraper. Then run the scraper. Post on elance. Should run you $50 to $150.

Ubot or zennoposter can easily do this without trying to pay hourly, newbie ubot user can do this within a day or two, you can try that jam
- good thing about this is that you dont have to pay anymore in the future if you encounter project like this for a long long time
- bad thing about this is that you have to get into the learning phase

Craigslist only charges in certain metros/geos. In my area, real estate postings are free, but I know in New York they are paid listings.

If you want to post a listing in jobs, but it is a paid metro, look at the metros around that one. They might be smaller, but you will show up in the searches for that paid metro under "blah blah nearby"

for braindead work like searching for youtube urls and putting them into a spreadsheet anyone can be hired for this, I use freelancer and elance, anything requiring a remote bit of thought or use of the english language you have to be a lot more picky
