If the thief had any intention of doing harm, he could easily have done so. But I'm still impressed at the guy who immediately moves to defend himself, especially because he's in his own zone, listening to music and probably people watching or deep in thought. That's about as complacent as anyone could be prior to being forced into a fight or flight situation.

Some people would shit or piss themselves the moment their brains registered what was happening. Others, like the first victim in the back, would sit paralyzed in shock. And then the fat woman near the end is what is considered Condition Black, a mental state of shock and panic, where all rational decision making is out the window. She's not in the fetal position, but she probably lost herself the minute she fled the situation.

Nice vid.

Am I wrong in assuming the first guy probably has some type of training? Martial arts, military, law enforcement, something? He didn't even think about what his reaction would be. Seemed more like an impulse reaction than anything, as if he was trained to react like that. Or am I off base?

I was thinking the same thing, he was not aware of him until he was right in front of him. Initially I thought he was faking that he didn't notice, but I am pretty sure he was totally unaware.

Besides the reaction speed he barely looked like he could throw a punch. Also military/police would have had more awareness as to what was going on inside the bus. But regardless, hes a badass for doing that.

The guy grabs the gun with his left hand, stands up, with his right hand puts his iPhone in his right jacket pocket before he starts swinging.

I don't think that's a martial arts move.

Holy shit, I didn't even notice he properly put his phone away before owning

Yep, wrong, lol. Just an average married dude with no martial arts training not willing to give up his iPhone. I think he is an architect, haha.

If it was an android phone he probably would have said, fuck it, take it.

He didn't really own... I'd call that some lucky ass shit.

I'm so glad I've lived this long.

Yeah. I'll be the first to praise someone for ass-kicking a violent criminal, but that guy was lucky for several reasons. I'm shocked that was Seattle. I assumed it was Japan for some reason.

Article...

“It was on shuffle. I honestly couldn’t tell you what I was listening to,” he said.

haha. Because the most important thing is what you were listening to if they want to pimp it.

At the 0:45 mark, the guy is wrapping his headphones around the dude and trying to strangle him! Wife just caught that.

That guy was lucky. Here is a video of a robbery gone wrong on a bus in a tough neighborhood in costa rica;

The guy with a gun was shooting at the robber; he got shot and beating to a pulp. I swear I never get tired of seeing that video.

Well at least he was protecting his own stuff(still pretty stupid). I have seen a video where some gas station salesmen tried to disarm the robber and got killed. Such a miserable way to go - dying while protecting property of other business.
