And while Obama is referring to the auto industry, it is a little ironic...

Obama: I "refused to let Detroit go bankrupt" - CBS News

"let me be blunt, detroit's broke."

As someone who was raised in (West) Michigan, I will never venture into Detroit. I'll rather go to Chicago anyday.

its brilliant run your own city into a unsustainable situation by taxing the hell out of the hard working people and business class then o the same thing to the rest of the state as you live on the gravy train and watch people who fled your city flee your state.

Who do you think sets the "economics" of the city? Hint, its the people you elect.

Oh, don't say "we," my friend. I've never voted, and never will.

But on a serious note, I get your meaning (I think). I just disagree with the implication that republicans are more inclined to run a tight fiscal house. On the contrary, they seem to be quite adept at spending money they don't have, running up the bills, and kicking the can down the road when they leave office. They just spend it on different stuff.

The politicians on point when the house of cards falls probably don't deserve all of the blame.

Having said that, I'm certainly no expert on Detroit. Perhaps the city has been operated for generations by democrats. I don't believe that destroys my notion that republicans can drive a city into the ground with just as much skill.

We're probably on the same page regarding economics. The other stuff, dems vs. repubs, is small stuff (to me).

But now we're like:

There is a boat load of cash to be made in detroit. If I lived a little closer I would probably become a slum-lord. Just buy houses in the 2,000 to $7,000 range and rent em out. No repairs just go around collecting moneies

I've been looking forward to this for a long time. Now is the chance that the corporations have been waiting for. They can come in and take over the city. They can rename Detroit to Delta City and start to build some awesome robots to patrol the streets and clean up crime.
