What should I learn first?

Hey guys. I'm an offline marketer and for quite a while now I've been wanting to get into SEM and I've been thinking of affiliate marketing as well.

I never really got around to it because SEO seemed really tedious and I was always hearing about how PPC was difficult to get a hang of. There was also the fact that there's an overwhelming amount of information out there. However, more importantly, SEM would be something I could additionally offer as a service to clients. I plan to do affiliate marketing later on down the road for extra cash after I become comfortable with SEM (also assuming it's integral for success).

I know the very basics of SEO, but almost nothing about PPC. What would you guys recommend I look into first? Am I wrong to think that PPC would be easier and faster to learn and put into play? Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Actually, there are two kinds of PPC. The first one is impression and the second one is conversion. Impression is for viewers of the website who does not purchase the product while the conversion is the consumer viewed and browse the site at the same time brought product online. This part of SEM has a bunch of works to do before you get the conversion.
