Of course it works for Local and reputation management, I designed it and I have strong backgrounds in both those markets.
Question: Do you regret telling me about African Mango long before it was public knowledge as the next big thing, allowing me to jump on it and grab a sick EMD that I ranked top 3 for months before I fucked it up using stupid ass BST services on instead of keeping your mouth shut and banking that cash yourself?

I dont regret it for a couple of reasons. I love helping people that can help me, I cant do everything by myself so Id rather someone else bank when I can't, and I could have been hella wrong about Mango ( but it turns out I wasn't ) and wasted yours and my time/money. Glad it worked out for you.

Nah I'm out but I'll tl;dr what I learned today. Correct me if I'm wrong.
1. Have a goal.
2. Visualize endgame of said goal.
3. All that remains is do it.
Most people really can't help you not because they don't want to but because everyone is different (situation,workstyle, etc) . Secondly, not everyone cares as much about YOUR vision. It's YOUR vision so it's up to YOU. What you should take from this AMA, is that it is possible.

Also if you decide to run with a network that's discovered as "no good" what do you do to detach with minimal impact.

Due diligence is touted but maybe an illicit explanation in this muddied sea of marketing could serve to limit the bloodbaths.

Question: Given the nature of Spamwow (which Ive just ordered) are you turning to the short term stuff for your own projects/revenue? Like many webmasters Ive been repeatedly slapped in updates over the last year but almost everyone else has been talking about a shift to long term SEO with brand/social etc, but what gets to me is even if you do follow the rules google can still beat the shit out of you on random update#53.

What is your favorite part of the business? How do you personally handle burnout? Do you have any strategies to mitigate burnout?
To protect myself, I just dont scale anymore like I use to. I only work with larger name affiliate networks or if I go direct I make sure its not some company that has been in business a few months. Google is prob your best friend besides hiring a PI to find out for you. Google their name, start and stay small and only run a higher % of traffic once you get paid AND IT ACTUALLY CLEARS the bank. Once you get paid, move that money out of the account into a different account. I've had money get frozen or not clear and then stuck in that one bank account for weeks at a time once.
Also, I only work with companies I can meet face to face, like at a tradeshow. None of these methods are real protections, but Im trying to lower my odds of getting fucked is all.
I dont know if there is an easy way to detach from a network not paying you, but I have done and collect money in the past this way:
1. Came by their office unannounced
2. Sent a fake debt collections letter
Prob not the answer you wanted, but Ive done it and collected on those 2 methods. I've only been in this position like 4 times, so cant say it always works.
I've done a lot of short stuff in the past with MFA and Amazon/eBay sites ( from like 2004-2008. I stopped and moved into long term SEO around 2009 and watched even sites of mine that were good and high quality get punished. Last straw was a few client sites I had get hit ( i had both short and long term SEO clients, both got hit ) and decided to jump back into short term in 2011.
I think you need a mix, but knowing long term can still get hit.. Id rather be short term.

I love creating new ideas, new methods, research and starting shit. I hate to finish or close on stuff. I also love when a new idea actually works out in the beginning and then handing it off to someone else to finish. I also love talking to new people and finding out their new ideas, not to copy, but the sheer amount of different things we can do online that people just do not think about.
Burnout, IDK.. I still burnout a lot. About the best thing I have done is take on new projects that push my limits in a different direction and also just turning everything off and forgetting about it.
As far as strategies, I try to hand off a lot of shit I hate to do to other people, even if that means I have to partner and take less % of revenue. Thats a hard route to go, but that makes it easier for me to unplug if needed and take on new diff projects to push me in other directions. I hate doing it, but it seems right now what I need to do.
^^Great post. You definitely should continue to work with people that can compliment your skills. You won't drive yourself and your family crazy by trying to do everything, and nobody can be great at everything anyway. I think you'll make more money in the long run even if you are taking a smaller percentage of the profits.
I'm interested in why you suggest cutting affiliates who convert less than average.
And why would you do this daily? It doesn't seem like enough time to me for the data to be statistically significant.
Also a question on your spamwow service. As a person who hasn't done almost any SEO at all, but reads on the subject - can you explain why should I trust those types of services? You promise the sky with some really shady links and the general consensus is that those don't work at all any more. You make it sound like I pay you a few bucks and I rank for w/e I want, albeit for a few days. Also the branding you chose makes me kinda "meh".
Sorry, I don't know you or almost anybody from this forum, but you are hijacking other people's fame/success to market a service that sounds too good to be true to the inexperienced buyer and absolutely bogus to a person who hasn't done any SEO, but is looking to do some for his projects. Again sorry to put it like that, maybe I'm missing something, that's why I'm asking. This thought process have made me stay away from the service.
The reason I suggest cutting daily and lower then average is multi-part. Granted, this doesn't work for everyone and every situation either.
For 1, not all of your affiliates will start on the same day your program starts, and many will have ups and down in traffic. Even though your doing it everyday, your affiliates are not starting out or maintaining the same levels of traffic everyday. Im not suggesting cutting an affiliate within X days after they start, but if your in your system daily and looking at numbers, Today might be the day a certain affiliate has hit 90 days in your system promoting your products and you notice the last 60 days of their traffic has taken a nose dive and is performing way under others. Im not speaking volume here, Im speaking conversions or chargebacks/refunds, etc.
Tomorrow 2 other affiliates might hit their 90 days in your system. The day after maybe 1 other affiliate, etc. Your doing it everyday because the affiliates in your system are hitting their own milestones every day on their own.
I dont wish to go into my backend and hunt down and destroy affiliates, thats not my goal. My goal is to find problems, determine if I need to cut them loose, change a payout, adjust for chargebacks, offer a hand, or find a better solution. Most times though, if you do this daily you can spot issues with fraud or problem affiliates. Some affiliates just have shitty traffic or promote your offer in the wrong angle/light, you will find this and then determine what you wanna do.
I'd rather have 10 high quality low volume affiliates, then 100 low quality high volume affiliates any day now.

I think you answered a lot of your questions in your own thread. You admit you know nothing of SEO and really only read about it. I can't really explain more to someone about a subject if that person doesn't even know it themselves, so this is rather hard to explain.
I don't think I promised the moon to anyone in my thread. If you read it, I show proof where we ranked a payday loans site, I even outed the domain and exact KW which is 1000x more then any other provider on this forum will do in a BST, let alone in public and advised we did this in a few days and showed proof of that as well. If I need a mod to check the site out and put in "eliquid" in the footer, then I will. Re-read the thread, I promise nothing but giving you access to the system and links we used to rank that term and site in just a few days.
As far as branding, not sure what you mean. I have run SEVERAL successful BST's here for a long amount of time. Branding of the service itself means nothing to me, I wanted to make sure people knew this was SPAM so I chose SPAMWOW as the name.. if the spam ranks you for competitive terms and you can prove it, it must be spam done right, right? Not sure I follow here.
If you question wither spam or whitehat is the way to go, thats on you.. but you gotta at least test and do it yourself. That would be like me saying that Mercedes must be better then Lexus, because thats the overall general thought, but in reality unless I have owned and driven both for a long period of time, my advice is worthless.
I do not think I have hi-jacked anyones success or brand. If you or anyone else think Grindstone or Illya were the first to run spam links to a site and rank it, then I do not know what to say to that. I have nothing against neither guy. Me and Grindstone talk/share tactics almost weekly sometimes and forget more then most people know when it comes to online marketing. Illya, he is a cool dude and finally kicked me out of SGW chat ( thank GOD ) but I do not feel I am hijacking anything. I used their Service name in my sig and thats it, and plus they do not even offer the service to the public anymore so I have no clue what your upset about. I mean if we want to get down to brass tacks, I was offering a massive spam service back in late 2010 with Mattseh offering a couple million blog comments dripped out or all in 1 blast right after Guerilla and his DFB service... so where do you draw the line that some is hijacking someone else? Im not claiming anything, but I know nothing is original in this forum. Is someone is mad or upset or think they invented something and have beef with me, I could care less really. I've had a couple hundred ideas stolen from me on this forum, but I got over it and its not a big deal.
Honestly, Im one of the more asshole people on this forum, even in my BSTs. If you don't wanna buy it, dont. I'd rather not give a refund to someone that doesnt understand or comprehend the service anyways later down the road.
SpamWOW or any service on this forum can only HELP you rank, it doesnt do it all for you. Sorry if you thought just buying the service would rank you for anything at anytime. Each serp is different, each site is different. For example, if you have a site that has been penalized and blacklisted by Google for the past 3 years because of some fuck up you did, do you really think any service ( including mine ) will help you rank #1 for your term on that site? I dont elude to this in my sales copy, so I just figured people would know and understand this.
Im not trying to win over legions of noobs, Im trying to give a solution to people that are at least on the playing field.
