Ammo..

The 223 / AR bubble is getting to the point of stupid. Is the AR the end-all-be-all weapon platform? No. In most cases it's marginal at best, because it compromises to be everything to everyone.

CQB? I'd rather have a semi auto shotgun.
Ranged? Gimme the M1 Garand or even better a 338 Lapua bolt gun.
Personal defense / carry? Um, no. Pistol please.
Home defense? Shotty or pistol.

Name me one thing that the AR platform really excels at.

Modularity. That's the only thing I can think of. It's like Legos. You can build all sorts of shit outta them.

If someone came to me with a new Savage 110 BA 338 Lapua, I'd trade in a heartbeat. Wouldn't think twice.

Don't forget to stock up on gold and silver too you stupid rich mother fuckers.

Glad I invested in 5.45x39. Cheap then, cheap now...and in stock.

My AK uses that - I've got 500 or so rounds on hand.

It is really hard to get 308 right now though (military grade for my FALs) and even harder to get non-corrosive 30-06 for my Garand.

If it ever does hit a bug-out situation though - which I highly doubt, since I'm sitting in the middle of 5 acres of trees in WI - I probably wouldn't be able to carry more than the AK ammo I have. Plus it's the best rifle I have - decent range, fast firing, yet could be servicable indoors. The FALs are much better long-range rifles (for that matter so is the Garand, but it's a relic) but they are much larger.

That all sounds good but I have young kids. In reality I'd need 10 minutes to unlock everything. If zombies show up I'll be better off beating them with a bat.

The AK / AR isn't a daily use, HD weapon. It's a SHTF weapon. Also makes a great truck gun for those who manage land.

Holy shit bro.

I feel so sorry for you. What's it like leading a life of paranoid schizophrenia?

Guys, serious. Watch out. This guy is CIA/FBI/Guantanamo Bay. Look at his username. Then look at his avatar. It's all a giant metaphor. I think it's stupid that these guys want to leave a bread crumb trail, but it's all part of their NWO Illuminati beliefs. Symbolism helps them reify the devils they worship! And watch out for anything with the color of sky cerulean blue like in his avatar. It can transmit your thoughts back to the lead Space Fleet Commander of the Intergalactic Brotherhood of the Pleiades. Charge up your JO crystals to defend yourself!

Go down to your local ammo store and take note of whatever ammo is currently still available. That should be your next firearm purchase

LoL, that's cute. The shelves are empty man, everywhere.

for things like 22, 223, 9mm, .45 but I can go into any shop or store in my state and find plenty of less popular calibers that are plentiful.

Didn't you hear? The majority (read almost all) of SEAL Team 6 died in a helicopter crash right around the time serious questions were being asked about the "Bin Laden" assassination.... just after the administration was pressed as to why there were no photos of the burial at sea.

SEAL Team 6 devastated in helicopter crash - NYPOST.com

Fucking truth just keeps getting stranger than fiction these days!

P.S. - Learn to RELOAD your brass!

"none of the slain SEALs had participated in the May bin Laden raid carried out by their Team 6 comrades."

Twenty of the Navy SEALs killed were members of the Naval Special Warfare Development Group (DEVGRU), an elite, Tier-One unit of commandos formerly known as SEAL Team Six. Sell all but a few thousand Dresden?

Reinvest part of the profit into other stuff that is easily tradeable in SHTF situations if you are worried about that. Should come out on top either way (unless prices keep going up, then I would start thinking about importing/starting an ammo factory...)

DEVGRU isn't that small. Red Team were the ones who killed Osama, Gold Team were the ones who got shot down (well, some of Gold Team).

It's a jack of all trades kind of gun.

Doesn't do anything THAT great, but does a bunch of things well enough. So much so that everyone should own one.

As for HD, my preference would be a AR15 with 223 as a 55gr 223 will only penetrate 2 interior walls before being completely out of energy. 12ga buck shot or slugs will go through 4 to 8.
