Do you live in this state?

Let them secede and give me some popcorn so I can watch a bunch of former states go down in a pitiful blaze of failure
Why would they fail?

Is it because they need a massive federal bureaucracy that prints money out of thin air and accumulates trillions in debt in order to have success?

just replace Iran here with Texas, all the sudden we'll start hearing things like Texas getting close to nuclear launch capabilities..

Texas might actually be the only state with a real right to withdraw from the union, because of the Annexation Treaty of 1848. Texas also has the ability to literally disable communication networks used by civilians and the US Military. It also has it's own air force. It has ports, manufacturing, and does something like 85% of the US gas refining.

Everyone can laugh, but Texas could probably function on its own.

because they seem to have an overinflated sense of self worth when in reality this country's economy is led by maybe a dozen states and most of the ones in that list are not a part of that dozen.

I can understand your issue with arrogance, I share it.

If Iceland can be a country, I am pretty sure Texas could be a country too.

I think he's referring to every state, but Texas. At least I hope so.

and now, for a word from Rick Perry:

Texas Gov. Rick Perry does not stand behind a secession petition filed with the White House by a Lone Star State resident in the aftermath of the presidential election.
The Dallas Morning News reports that the Republican governor's press secretary, Catherine Frazier, said in an email that Perry "believes in the greatness of our Union and nothing should be done to change it." She added, "But he also shares the frustrations many Americans have with our federal government. Now more than ever our country needs strong leadership from states like Texas, that are making tough decisions to live within their means, keep taxes low and provide opportunities to job creators so their citizens can provide for their families and prosper."
Rick Perry Takes Stand On Texas Secession Issue

For a state to have a successful secession, it is kinda important to have the Gov. on board.
