[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gMAfLThH7Ok]Parvo day 5 for my Chocolate Lab - YouTube[/ame]

Many of you have been following the story (here) of my 6 week old Chocolate Lab "Griz" or "Little Grizzly Cub", as they have been calling him at the vet.

I bought Griz for my wife as an anniversary gift last Wednesday from a backyard breeder (I admit I was totally ignorant in taking a 5 week old puppy from its mother, and the breeder was not smart in letting me take him). After taking him home he started to vomit and had bad diarrhea. Last Thursday morning he was diagnosed as having strong Parvo. I let the breeder know and she was more than willing to take Griz back and refund me my money for him, but she let me know she would be putting him to sleep so that he would not infect her other puppies. I didn't like that idea as I fell in love with him immediately so I took on the mission to save his life. The breeder gave me all my money back that day, and wished me the best.

Griz was in the hospital from Thursday morning-Saturday afternoon, and he seemed to be better. Thanks to the $300 refund by the breeder, a nice lady at Walmart that gave me cash for both the Tv's I bought two months ago, and VERY GENEROUS donations from mGrunin, ly2 from WF, (O_o), Kiopa_Matt, sgm26, mattseh, Guerilla, Galoor, inc., and others, I was able to pay his $1,300 bill and take him home.

On Saturday night around 10pm, Griz started to vomit and a string of pure blood came out of his bottom. This scared me to death, and on Saturday night Griz woke up every 45 minutes to vomit and have bloody diarrhea. On Sunday morning I called the Vet on her cell and told her what was happening, and she told me Griz needed to get back to the Vet ASAP or he would most likely die from dehydration. She willingly drove an hour to the vet office on her day off and hooked him back up to the IV's. If it weren't for that he would be dead.

Griz has been in the hospital again since Sunday morning, and he has been getting Plasma injections since yesterday. He is still alive, and hanging in there. The vet says the Parvo should go away today or tomorrow, and hopefully he can begin eating and recover soon.

I don't exactly know why I decided to take on the challenge to save this little dog's life. I only had him for 1 day before he got sick, and I could have easily gave him back to the breeder, got my refund, and moved on.

I am desperate for Griz to live a long fulfilled life, and I am going to find a way to pay his bill one way or another. This is Grizs bill for Sunday Morning-Today:

His bill will most likely go up another $400 today and another $400 tomorrow. Hopefully I can take him home tomorrow.

I am not asking for handouts here. What I am asking is that if you care about animals as I do, and you have anything that you could donate to the cause of my little Grizzly Cub, please donate via my Paypal at lazychris@me.com. If for any reason you doubt the validity of Griz's condition, or bill, please call Waterhouse Animal Hospital in Fresno, CA at 559-434-4000. Griz is the only Chocolate Lab in the hospital, and the only dog there being treated for Parvo.

With or without donations I am going to do all I can to save Griz's life. If I pick him up on Thursday and I have a debt to the hospital of $2,000, i'll have to just go in debt to the place. All that matters to me is that my Grizzly Cub lives.

If we can get 40 of you guys to donate just $50, we can get his entire bill covered. ANYTHING YOU CAN TO SAVE THIS LITTLE DOGS LIFE WILL HELP.

I'll stretch some your way when I get home. My dogs are my kids, I'd hate to be in your shoes.

Good luck with the little guy

Sorry man, but you're pushing the line now. At the VERY LEAST, you should be asking people if they have any work you can do, instead of just a handout.

Or don't you have any friends or family you can get a loan from? Or anything valuable you can pawn off? Pawn something nice off, and you can buy it back within 30 days.

Typical, isn't it? Give someone an inch, they try to take a foot.

This guy needs to learn to be responsible. You fellas tip him for being less-mature, less-responsible so be prepared to 'babysit' him for every goddamn problem he's got/going to have in his retarded life.

I do feel bad for his dog though, but this whole 'jerking around sentiments' stuff is a little off putting for me # Retarded thought

After reading this, I think some of us will regret donating now. What a great person you are.

I almost said the same thing, then I realized that having an opinion like that is worthless. No one cares. You are also not the first person to say it, so I'm assuming, you think that your opinion is so valuable that it must be spoken. I wish it was true for this matter, but it wasn't. So now, go be a good little boy, and upvote his reddit thread.

Agreed, you could have at least just bumped the original post - the "Important Update, READ NOW" bugged me to hell too.

I'm not one to hate puppies, but you bought the dog, the dog is your responsibility and it's not for us guys to pay for it.

People shouldn't buy dogs if they can't afford to look after it if things go wrong, it's just plain irresponsible.

Holy second fucking thread asking for us to pay YOUR bills. Oh yeah, your definition of "taking on a challenge" by begging others to pony up for your responsibilities makes me LOL.

What did you expect from someone with his previous post history, who even lied in the initial thread, by blaming the wanting to leave his wife on being drunk.

All I care about is getting this puppy healthy. Nothing else matters. All previous posts by me were in very hard times. I DO NOT want people to think i'm trying to take advantage at all. I am the one that decided to keep and try to save this little guy, and I understand it is ultimately my responsibility to pay what is due. I am very grateful to all that donated and if it seems like I am asking for a mile I am sorry. I really am just worried about my dog and am doing all I can to save him.

I just called the vet and she said he is holding food down and that is a very good sign, and he is perky as well. To those that have donated and supported this cause, I thank you more than you will ever know. To those that feel like I asked too much, I am sorry, I am desperate.

i have rescued dogs & cats off the streets of mexico and saved a few lives while down here, but i have also had to make the decision to have them killed if it was clear that they were in pain or didnt have a fair shot at a happy future

last year i tried to save my dying cat (got poisoned) and drew out his suffering because i couldn't bear to see him go. if i could turn back time i would have ran him to the vet to get killed instead of trying to save him..but i learned an important lesson nonetheless.

your situation is a little different i think because parvo may kill your puppy but he might survive as well. however, it was a brand new dog whom you guys don't have much of a history with so i cant understand why you wouldnt take the dog back? now you're saddled with these vet bills and have put yourself in an expensive situation. i admire your spirit and good nature, but this wasn't the best decision.

is there any indication on when the dog might get better if he will at all?
