Hey Guys,

Some of you may remember from a couple of years ago I posted a thread about my best friend's little girl who was born with a kidney disease called PKD (Polycystic Kidney Disease). Basically it means she was born with cysts on her kidneys which slow down kidney function and eventually she will need a kidney transplant at some point. There's no cure at the moment, but the family is very involved in the fight to find one. We're all going to be doing a big walk for PKD in San Diego in a few weeks so I'm trying to raise at least $1000 for the foundation before the walk.

I really don't like asking for donations like this, but I know a lot of you guys have kids, as I do, and it's hard to see a little kid deal with this type of disease. Grace is two years old right now and is an awesome little girl. If I could come in with a huge chunk of cash for the walk & foundation it would mean so much.

If you have a couple bucks to spare it would be going to a really good cause. Here's my page at WalkforPKD.org where you can read more about the disease and donate.

Even if you can't give a donation, if you could visit the page below and "like" it on Facebook, that would be awesome too. Thanks everyone!

Is there a specifc place to donate so they know its coming from you? I dont see your specific page.

Damn man, I'm so broke from my own medical illness I can only give you a FB like.

The magnitude of fucked cannot be explained until you experience it.

I was successful, have health insurance, successful spouse, and was wiped out by a disease that occurs in 1 per 1 million population at 28. I'm on immune-suppression therapy to reduce a cystic tumor type disease that almost destroyed my left eye and the nerves on the left side of my face.

Any time you have inflammatory pain on an organ or nerve it's excruciating. Kidney's must be incredibly painful.

Holy shit, sorry to hear about that. Are you on the road to recovery I hope?

Just donated $50.

I'll be starting a Movember thread in a couple weeks so I'll be counting on you to return the gesture OP :)

You've got my commitment to a Movember donation. ;)

I suppose, it took 10 months just to get a diagnosis while it just got worse and worse.

The first doctors I went to wasted 5+ months and still charged money (co-pays and bills insurance didn't pay).

Once you get to the neurology "specialist" it doesn't matter how much money you have set aside, $10k, $50k, $100k, it's just a matter of time until it's sucked away. With health insurance.

Then if you're like me and actually have investments, like RE, you don't qualify for any assistance even when you run out of cash after income dries up and you deplete savings. So where other degenerates qualify for hospital charity that just writes off their expenses, you get a payment plan to pay the parts that your private health insurance doesn't cover.

There's a whole magnitude or depth of fucked that you don't consider until it happens. And aside from money issues there are more serious problems like not being able to do the things you live for (passions in life) or went to school for.

come on WF...it's for a good cause.

turn that bar GREEN.

or BLUE-GREEN, or whatever it is, but donate.

Done. Good luck, your friend is lucky to have you by his side.

Thanks man. I appreciate it very much. We're doing pretty damn good actually. $580 in one afternoon ain't too bad. I want to blow the $1000 mark out of the water, so if you're reading this and can spare a couple bucks, it will go a long way to help the PKD foundation. You gay webmasters aren't a bunch of pricks like everyone says..but I'll keep that on the downlow!
