It's not a 'pirate island' it's for startups. And what's wrong with cuba? and do you know how FAR cuba is from the california coast?

This is fucking cool. Is this the only project of its kind or are there similar things?

Fuck working on a startup on board there, be the guy owning the Dominos franchise.

It'll be the very first time we've made new land to bypass government laws... But it's only a transitory step to the real Seasteads.

Nonetheless, I'm pumped... I could easily swing that $2000/mo rent! -Of course I'd have to lie and say I had a startup tho... ;)

I know, $2000 a month is nothing for this. If it can be done for that sort of cost per person I don't see why there can't be more.

Have you ever been on a cruise before? Lets just say after a few days you'll probably already be bored with the place. The cost of everything is probably going to be much more than if you lived on land. And have fun buying good and or getting them shipped to you. I'm sure they'll have ways to so it... for a cost.

No thanks.

I bet you could come up with something that would compliment your current business.

There will be more, there is huge demand for it.

The question is whether businesses can make a return on this. Where I live, there are lots of exploration companies doing research. The spend millions hoping to get a breakthrough.

I'd happily pay $10 for a coke if it means I can make

Ideas I got; Lifestyle changes in return for executing those ideas; I don't want.
Ron Paul is 70 some odd years old. Shame on you. :p

That right there. If was young and hungry I would crush the planet, but now I'm old and comfortable.
Three words.

Life extension technology.

You might be around a lot longer (and need more money) than you think.

Blueseed’s research has found that across the US, 7,000 Computer Science Master’s and PhD graduates each year are foreign nationals, with many encountering difficulties in continuing their US residence and many being forced home

Wow, interesting way to solve this problem.
