Looks Like Amex Starwood might not be best travel card...

I got the Cap 1 Venture card. Double miles on everything. 30K miles for spending $1000 in the first 2 months and another 2500 miles when you add other cardholders to the account. I'm sitting on 50k+ miles and I've only had the card a couple months.

You missed out. When the card originally came out, they offered to match your mile up to 100,000 that you had with another airline + 10k bonus miles to activate. I had 140,000 miles on american airlines which translated into 100,000 points + 10k bonus points = $1,100 cash :)

I no longer use that account much. Got 2 Southwest Rapid Reward cards (Business and Personal) to get 100,000k miles (2x50k) then spent/traveled another combined 10k which gave me companion status. Friend gets to fly free wherever I go which is freakin' sweet. Southwest flies to a lot of the places I go frequently (e.g direct flights home to Chicago from Boston) and the flights are generally pretty cheap ($79/~4500 points) for one way tickets)

I like the starwoods card because I stay at SPG properties frequently through work. Love the customer service they offer. Will be getting rid of my hilton credit card this year for sure. Feel as though the service has gone downhill and isn't worth the annual fee.

That's my take on things.

Starwood does have its perks though for sure. Wondering your guys comments that travel a lot.

I'm looking to travel a lot more for 2012 then I have before and I am now starting to look into these cards.

Hope this helps anyone else doing the same.

Check that out. If southwest is an airline of choice for you, apply for their business and personal card. Don't make any purchases until 2012 so the 50,000 bonus points each hit in 2012. Then spend 10k and then you get companion status for 2012 and 2013. Crazy.

That's a good deal. I've never flown Southwest for any long flights. Only from SD to Vegas or San Fran. I haven't even been on a SW plane in years. Have the upgraded their planes for the cross country flights. As I remember, they weren't the most comfortable planes for the short flights.

tldr anything...

but i have a starwoods card and it fucking rocks. I stay at SPG hotels a lot and i'm platinum, so i get to build up a lot of points that way.

but if your spending a shitload, like 10k+/month, its hands down the best card i've come accross.

i use all my points for airline miles. You can basically tranfers Starwoods Points 1 to 1 for almost all the big brand airlines, or you can just book w/ ur points.

i'd recommend it to anyone

Southwest is for peasants and people with no legs.

Southwest is like the grey hound bus of the sky. Yeah, it's cheap, but it fucking sucks ass.
