American Airlines/AMR files Chapter 11

Depends on your definition of "major airline". Southwest Airlines hasn't filed bankruptcy. At 145 million+ pax a year, I'd consider them major.

^^ In 2014 when Southwest can fly to Vegas without a layover I'll consider them a major airline, fucking Wright Amendment. :D

they fly direct where i live ^^

The Wright Amendment is specific to Dallas/Love Field traffic and contiguous flights in relation to states not adjacent to Texas (all relating back to establishing the then brand new DFW airport as a regional transpo hub).

In other words, legislators and courts sticking their dick in the mash potatoes again.

They said it will definitely not affect AA Miles. (Whew. I have over 50K.) -But they said they'll be discontinuing flights soon, and of course the layoffs.

They're blaming it all on failed Union talks...
