Wow. I thought he died years ago and was just being operated by an elaborate system of ropes and pulleys.
They do, they didn't agree with his moves as of late but he was an icon of the game
Part of me wants to say Keith Richards, but he's been on the clock 30 years now..
He should have stepped aside a few years ago as should Jerry Jones, however the numbers speak for themselves. 3 Super Bowls, 12 Division Titles, and only 7 losing seasons between 1963-2002. Yeah they have sucked of late, but the Al Davis put in work!
What the fuck? He helped make the AFL (which made the NFL what it is today) and won 3 Superbowls! This more than offsets JaMarcus.
Ever hear of John Madden? Davis plucked him from the college ranks, he never coached pro anywhere else.
Talk about "what have you done for me lately". Bigger picture, gentlemen. Just because he was past his prime the past few years doesn't mean the guy wasn't a giant.
He was also dirty as fuck, but I attribute that to his insane level of competitiveness. Truly one of a kind ... and the last coach to go on to own a pro football team.
