Here's a hypothetical situation:

You can vote for Ron Paul or Mitt Romney.

If you vote for Ron Paul, he wins the republican candidacy, but loses to Obama in the presidential election.

If you vote for Mitt Romney, he too wins the republican candidacy, but beats Obama in the presidential election.

Which do you choose?
 


I'd go Ron Paul. I'm sick of compromising and think this might be our last shot. Ron Paul is going 100% and so am I.

I don't even know if I would want Mitt Romney over Obama at this point. Obama is great for destroying the nation which I am all for now. I don't think it's worth putting a moderate in who won't fix shit. I would rather just watch the nation go down quickly so we can start rebuilding. This long drawn out death is really unproductive and stupid.

2nd term presidents don't have to worry as much about poll numbers or about securing support from corporations. While not all "change" is good, if Obama or a future president was to try to weaken the patriot act, for example, it would be in their 2nd term that they would do this.

Bush started off his 2nd term trying to get social security privatized. It didn't happen, but most would admit that it was good that it put discussions on the table about the future funding of social security, whether or not people agreed with the proposed changes.

I don't think Obama will try to legalize marijuana, but that's another example of something that likely wouldn't be pursued by a "typical" president until after reelection.

Four more years of Obama might bring about him trying slightly more radical things, which has potential upsides and downsides. With Romney, you are basically guaranteed of four more years where the main goal is to upset as few major demographic groups and corporations as possible.
 
the nomination process is bullshit. So even in the general election there's no point in voting for a compromise. I'll write in Ron Paul even if he loses the nomination.

I have very little faith though. Notice Ron Paul rehired Jesse Benton as his campaign manager. This is the same guy as last time who had no media connections at all, super unwilling to do anything mass media wise and even had to be talked into letting Ron Paul go on the daily show and jay leno only after they offered several times from mass requests. He spent the whole time insisting that the campaign do nothing but direct the supporters in their promotion instead of doing any campaigning themselves. What a worthless douche. He has the money this time around why doesn't he hire a real well connected and aggressive campaign chairman.

I don't get it when people talk about throwing your vote away. If you vote for two moderate establishment candidates you're voting for the same person either way. Once they get into office they're going to continue the work of the last president and do the exact same thing as the predecessor. Picking between the two is essentially a throwaway vote in itself. What gets me going through is I'll get lectured by old people about throwing my vote away on ron paul then I ask why they're voting for their candidate of choice and they always have a retarded answer like;
"he's a millionaire he'll know how to fix the economy"
"he has good hair"
"he looks presidential"
"he's christian"
"she's a woman and we need a woman in the whitehouse"
"i like his stance on *insert moral softball*"
 
vote for ron paul, get the ideas of liberty more into the main stream, gary johnson then wins in 2016

I'll say this... Ron Paul is fantastic. If I subscribed to the system of voting, I'd likely vote for him. Of course, as an anarchist, it is very difficult to maintain consistency while doing so.

I'm voting for Sarah Palin. Bwhahahahaha...okay I tried to say that with a straight face.

Why no mention of Slick Rick? It's all over the news down here that he's the answer all the Republicans are looking for. Of course, being from Texas, I have to disagree...
