Ok I've just spent the last couple of hours researching a particular niche, well ok not really a niche I was more building a website around an affiliate offer and now that I'm done I want you all to critique it, yes I don't give a shit if you see the URL, website, layout, whatever who cares.

What I need is all people who give valuable responses and all of you who are won't think twice to tell me it sucks ass to share your opinion with me. If your wondering why I want you to share your opinion with me, its simple if it needs improvements its better to know now rather then later.

So here is the URL and also let me know what you think about my story.

My New Site

One last thing, yes I know its on blogger right now, yes I know I should buy a domain name and all that crap, no I don't want you to click on any ads, and I'm only looking for one of two things from my future visitors.

1) A Click Through On The Ads.
2) Two Sign Up For The Service.

I'm a complete noob to affiliate marketing so take what I say with a grain of salt, but here's my impression:

The images along the top should be better resolution. It makes the page look cheap when there are cheap graphics.

I would use different keywords for your two auctionads blocks. So use "dvd" in the sidebar and maybe "movie" for the footer.

I'd be interested in seeing how well this converts for you. Like I said I'm a noob so I'm trying to gain all the insight I possibly can.

wrong section buddy

but...i recommend you break up your content with some ads and format your content to keep the reader attention....

best bet is to TEST, TEST, TEST....

haha its funny that you should say fix up the resolution of the top image because I was also looking at that when I was creating the top image and I was getting tired of doing the graphics and said fuck it.......so tomorrow I'll fix up that image and make it a good high-res one.

Yeah thats again another thing I noticed about the Ad blocks, I'll be making sure that they display different ads, I will probably end up using different keywords for each ad block so different products are displayed.

See even though you consider yourself a newbie you still have a valuable opinion.

test test test, yup thats step two.

However I'm not 100% sure I feel confortable breaking up my content with some ads at this point, however keeping the readers attention is a bigger thing for me.

Thanks.

Wrong section?.....how is that possible we are in shooting the shit here.

Thanks.

Thread is dealing with Affiliate Marketing which should be in the _________ _______ Section.....

btw no problemo!

I'd really make the four images into a style type of banner, to kind of give the site a nice feel.

That or I would drop the whole theme and move the auction ads to the top and keep the bottom open. I'd also find a few dvd's and drop a few links in the text. Also I'd probably add a title along the lines of recommended viewing. As it stands the right side just sticks out like a sore thumb, while you may not want it to blend perfectly in you'll want it to look more like it's content and not advertising.

Hey Aequitas,

Thanks for sharing the site. Many here try to keep things too close to their chest.

Here are my 2 cents.

I agree with fixing the top graphic, not just the resolution but make it a bit "sexier". Copy the look of some of those rental sites. A bit more modern looking and less plain.

Break up your copy with headlines so the viewer sees data in chunks rather than 1 long page. Use underline and perhaps bold as default on the affiliate offer link so it's more noticeable to the reader.

Wish you success on the site.

Do you have any campaigns set up for this yet? I would run it right now and see how it does, then report back. It might take some time to see the full effect because of the auctionads..

I would suggest cloaking/masking those affiliate links with htaccess but since your running on blogger you cant. Thats my only real suggestion...

I agree with others, higher res image on the top....

Oh, one last thing, grammar.... There seems to be some issues with your tenses... for example -

I'm allowed to just swing by a store and pick 3 of them up for free when I drop off the 3 I already had, this worked out perfect because instead of waiting a few days for them to come in the mail I just swing by after work and picked up some new ones.

No I just finished it up a couple hours ago, not testing anything yet just wanted a few opinions so I'll make a few changes before I take it live. I'll report back once I take it live and get some results.

As for the top image I quickly added a few more DVD titles and made them a higher-res I'm getting quiet tired now so my patience is running low on doing graphics, its 2am here, the same goes with re-reading the work.

I've only re-read it once so far so when I wake up tomorrow I'll give it another read and correct some of the spelling and grammar mistakes.

I was almost thinking about making this a full disclosure type of campaign, let people know exactly what I'm doing throughout the whole process and show all my stats and everything, but I'm not sure yet, we'll have to see.

Thanks everyone for your comments.

You have my vote for that....

Ok so I was going to go to bed an hour ago but I ended up making some more changes to the page, I'm not going to fix up the banner until tomorrow but I changed the auctionads on the side to my amazon affiliate products, a top movie rentals section.

I think it looks better with this side bar now, rather then have the auctionads stick out as much as they did and tomorrow I'll also deal with my affiliate links, hiding them from Google and shit.

If you really want to make money, I'd ditch all the auction ads and the amazon affiliate DVD's. You won't make shit from it. They are just more "leaks" on your site. Focus on the Blockbuster sign-up. They are paying out really well right now so take advantage of it.

Yeah I ditched the Amazon DVD thing already did some calculations, I'd get like 80 cents per sale, not worth my time, the AuctionAds I'd make more, well depending on how many clicks I would get.

And yeah I just got kind of a raise with my blockbuster offer I'll make $43 per sale, all the viewer has to do is sign up for the offer. I would like to focus more on this sale but the problem is I don't want to have the page completely blank, I want to keep the images on the sidebar.

I could leave them there and make them just the image, with no affiliate link, and remove the AuctionAds from the bottom of the page which leaves them only the ability to click through to the sign up page, or actually toss another image near the bottom to get rid of the white space a bit more, I'm playing around with a couple layout things still to see how it might look without the bottom AuctionAds.

I don't like the text. Do you really rent 2 movies a day? Does anyone? It sounds...made up. Blockbuster pays out $40 bucks per membership right?

Also, I suspect more people will click on the auctionads than the aff links.

Yeah, I'd remove the AuctionAds but keep the images on the right just as images. Or you could write a little movie review about each one for a little SEO love.

$43 per lead is pretty good. Did you get a raise before you've even started pushing it? I think the highest standard payout i've seen is with Affiliate Network | Affiliate Programs | Affiliate Marketing - IncentaClick ($43.50). What affiliate program are you using?

Actually that part was true, I used to rent 1 to 2 movies per day and usually 4 to 6 on friday, I've used to do that for 2 years when I had no cable, I watched every movie known to man, so thats how I got the story going in my head I could cut it back a few in case it does sound too made up.

As for the text I was thinking about trying some different fonts it almost seems hard to read to me, anyone else think so?

As for getting paid $40 per sale nope I get $43 per sale.

Yeah ok check it out now, I removed all the AuctionAds so now the only way they can click through is to my the blockbuster affiliate product, I also added a nice little image down at the bottom to take care of the white space, as for a bit of SEO love yeah I could but I don't want to get too crazy with the text.

Its technically $43 per sale, because they have to fill out their credit card info to sign up, they have to fill out their name, address, and credit card crap before I get the cash.

I got the raise for this program before I started promoting it, it was only a $3 dollar raise but still anything is better then nothing, the network I'm doing this through is MaxBounty.

Now for the people looking in their own MaxBounty account saying I'm a lier because it only shows $40 per sale for them, I get more because well I seen an oppurtunity to get it increased and I talked to them about promoting it and they raised the price for me a bit, once I make some sales I'm sure I can get it up a bit higher.

Anyone else notice that the sign up page for that MaxBounty Blockbuster offer sucks and that you can get a 1 month free going direct to blockbuster.com instead of $9.99 going through this offer?
