Don't disable people's accounts for inactivity. And if you really have to, send a courtesy email about how much money they've paid the publisher.

It's frustrating when I do my taxes and have to sift through dozens of pages of bank statements to figure out how much money you sent me.

As well as networks that don't send out 1099s because they're too lazy or don't care, thanks for increasing our chances of being audited by reporting inaccurate information.

BluAffiliate - how are you doing your taxes?

I generally make more then what I get in 1099's ( not everyone sends them, like paypal/clients/etc ) so even if I dont get them, I report what I received thru my business bank account, which everything is deposited to.

Never had an issue with being audited. I would think this would only happen if you did get a 1099 and the sender filled in the wrong amount. Not getting one ( and thus not sending one in on taxes ) does not always trigger an audit.

It sounds like you got a cluster fuck of paperwork you go thru, why not just have 1 single bank account for your business and run everything business only thru in it, all deposits and expense's in it only for business. Then at the end of the year you have everything in one place. All records, dates, etc

Just started my LLC in 2008, the exact time when business credit essentially dried up so I had to use my personal cards for all my business purchases creating this clusterfuck I'm experiencing. I am finally getting my first business credit card after applying for years.

And even if I go through bank statements alone, it won't tell the whole stories as some networks pay net7, net30, net0, etc. but report it on the 1099s as net0 payments, so when it comes December 31st some of the payments might only hit your account on Jan 1st.

I agree, i can sit idle for a year + with some networks, and then make bank with them when i find a good offer.

Also I would talk to your accountant about setting you up a separate business account on payroll, and have him check your statements monthly, and doing all the work. I only pay him maybe $450 a quarter which is well worth it, when you got better things to do, like make money. The only thing u have to do is keep your business expenses on a different debit card, and he'll do the rest.

Closing accounts for inactivity is one of the most idiotic things a network can do.

Seriously.

I agree with the year end revenue statement too. That definitely might help some pubs. Although it should be easy to find with a stats search, there's nothing wrong with a network over-delivering for convenience.

Inactive accounts are bored accounts. We try our best to ensure we have something for each of our affiliates. But I agree, if and when inactivity occurs... just let them stay. There are always new offers emerging.

A. Get Quicken or Quickbooks, download weekly and apply your transactions to the right things. It's very very easy and then you don't depend on other people.

B. Closing accounts for inactivity is lame I agree. I also have seen what Eagle has many times. We never close accounts unless we find fraud.

C. If you're an LLC there is no rule that a 1099 needs to be sent. 1099's only need to be sent to people filing without EIN's and under their personal ss#'s

[insert picture of 3 cents here]

P.S. Personally I have 30-50 accounts on various networks I never run with but that doesn't mean I never will work with them. Just haven't had a reason to up until now.

^^ also to add to this, mint.com.

I havent used quicken or quickbooks, but mint.com offers you updates reports of your stuff and tags them for you too.

While we're suggesting payout info... networks please add a payout history to your interface. I've only seen three networks that do this - neverblue, yep, and clickbank.

Date paid / date check sent / anything like that. Look at neverblue for suggestions.

This is such a handy feature yet almost no one has it.

Agreed. C2M has this as well. Very useful information and can be quite motivating.

I just threaten, I never close down. People come back after years of being inactive and I've seen it over and over.

Hey, slightly off topic, but I've been sending some traffic your way recently, wondering if you guys ever plan on doing rewards of some sort. Sometimes it's nice to get a free ipad in the mail:music06:
