8 shots is definitely excessive. Clearly the guy was not a threat anymore when he was shot in the back and ass.

It was midnight. How do you know what the attacker is doing. He could have had a gun or knofe. Should the jogger take the attackers pulse after every shot?

Easy for a Monday morning quarterback to say. Pitch black, adrenaline pumping at its max... you're going to squeeze off shots as quickly as possible. The guy probably got shot a few times in the chest and as he tried to escape or started to fall, turned and took some rounds into his back and ass.
Point still is, every bullet has a lawyer attached to it. If the guy drops after a double-tap to the chest, you should stop shooting. Adrenaline or not you have to answer for it, so this is why you train.

Yeah. If you are attacked in the middle of the night, even by someone who is ostensibly unarmed, it's probably best to use the most effective means available to stop the assailant. What if you tried to fight back physically, lose, and then the attacker robs you and finds your gun? What's to stop him from killing you with your own weapon? Too many variables, not enough time. Getting shot is simply the risk you take when you try to rob someone.

Look, It takes an INSANELY HIGH level of training to overcome the adrenaline that starts flowing in a situation like that. The average person, and even many trained cops will pull the trigger until the weapon is empty, regardless of whether or not they are even aiming at the fucker anymore.
That's what happened there, I guaranfuckintee it, and I'm sure it was taken into account. Otherwise the guy would be locked up, Florida or not. There had to be more to the story than that too- maybe a weapon on the dudes person or something, etc. Story doesn't say.

Dumbass, I jog at night some times during the summer. It's nice and a change of pace.
You guys have no clue about the fright you would experience being randomly attacked in the middle of the night, being punched in the fucking face out of no where.
