i was going to test this myself on my LPs, but its reasonably expensive. anyone want to share what results they've gotten from these
I've seen countless LPs (especially rebill LPs) with security seals (from BBB, McAfee, TRUSTe, etc) but they are never linked, so I'm guessing they are using it without any approval.
But I'm sure it will have some affect on a conversion rate of an offer as a lot of consumers associate such logos with the legitimacy of the company.

Protip: SSLs can boost conversions on pages that don't require any sensitive info at all - especially on interruption marketing where the green bar of an EV seal can gain attention. And split test in security seals etc as well - I wouldn't recommend using trademarks like TrustGuard (unless you do wanna pay to get verified) but just the shape of a seal / crest etc is associated with security, and normally boosts conversions for me.
Yes. 100% guarantee, security logos, brand trademarks, all these things are very important to build authority, especially with anything requiring a payment, and even for leadgen they come in handy. This is as far as my split testing exp with landers. As far as the SPECIFIC SSL seal that you need a license for or something, I'm not sure about. I think your average consumer isn't gonna know the difference between some official licensed thing that you need an encrypted key to display and something that visually mimics it.
Has anyone ever thrown these up on a simple opt-in(squeeze) page? Something like 100% Safe Email etc.
Here's a study from the University of Auckland on deception techniques used in phishing scams. They cover the significance of an SSL seal. Apparently only 18% of users in a sample could even identify an SSL seal, and security images on banking sites are actually training people to begin ignoring SSL seals.

Definitely a great read.
