To be fair, you should be buying precious metals.

Most dealers put a small mark-up on spot to cover overhead unless you are buying large quantities of bullion. There is an even bigger mark up on coins - has nothing to do with it being in short supply.

Spot is for raw silver bullion. Coins and bars are always above spot because of the cost to mint them, dealers then add a few dollars so they make money. So unless you buy raw random silver. I was going to link to some but Apmex is sold out. It goes for "As low as 0.69 over spot" so their site says.
