The hypocrisy of Pace Lattin and industrypace.com

So anyone figure out for sure what network gave up the emails? The email I was subscribed under is one I haven't used for any network in 2+ years... Only network I can think of off the top of my head that I haven't changed that email address with (since I use a different account now) is Affiliate.com...

See:

I would out the method that he got the emails from but that would be calling someone major out on this forum, so I'll hold my tongue. Essentially he got the emails from another big blogger's mailing list. Every blog I sign up for I add the functionality +fromblog.com, i.e. my email for Shoemoney's blog would have been bluaffiliate+shoemoney.com@gmail.com, so if Shoemoney ever sold that list I could easily track it.

I PMed BluAffiliate asking him who is responsible and he didn't reply. Way to protect "someone major" on this forum Blu.

Pretty sure I've never used my old email address to subscribe to anyone's blog list. I know I haven't done that with my current address - I always use a throwaway spam account for list signups, and that account doesn't seem to have gotten an Affpace invite.

Obviously the e-mail lists came from his former employer, affiliate.com.

And more than likely Pace took these emails without affiliate.com's knowledge or permission. Pace is already a confirmed liar so even if he denies this, he has zero credibility. If makes no sense force affiliate.com to just hand Pace over these email lists voluntarily and potentially create a competitor for themselves.

Pace could be setting himself up for a lawsuit.

I HIGHLY DOUBT he solely got emails from affiliate.com lists. I did have an account there years ago, however, i know for a fact i did not give them an email account i reg'd 7 months ago.

out the fucking network, I'm sick and tired of networks acting like idiots as far as privacy is concerned given that we live in a very litigious age.

if they're gonna funnel my data to some stupid blogger I want to know who they are as I'm sure when the ftc comes a knocking they'll not only give it over un-subpoenaed but will also provide a complimentary blow job.

out them, so I can make sure I never send them a fucking dime again.

Most Affiliate networks have an article like this in their privacy policy:

3. Dissemination of Individual Information.
3.1 Sale or Transfer to Third Parties.
Media Breakaway MAY SELL OR TRANSFER INDIVIDUAL INFORMATION TO THIRD PARTIES FOR ANY LEGALLY PERMISSIBLE PURPOSE IN MEDIA BREAKAWAY’S SOLE DISCRETION.

That was from affiliate . com

Pace stole the list of affiliates emails from Affiliate.com. That's how he got my email. I created a specific email address for affiliate.com because I had a feeling this would happen someday.
Sorry Pace, as much as I liked your publications in the past, this whole thing was a dick move. -REP

True - not doubting he didn't get a list from affiliate.com - but wasn't the word "networks" thrown around earlier? I also have a "hunch" he may of taken a comment list email DB from a blogger or two.

Pace stole the list of affiliates emails from Affiliate.com.

Keyword is STOLE too. It's obvious Pace did not leave affiliate.com on good terms.

Pace probably STOLE emails from other sources too.

That's the way Pace works. One set of rules for himself, and another for everyone else.

Pace gonna need the

He converted to Buddhism I believe.

For everything else, Scott can't be pleased about how this is going down... I'll get a statement from him tomorrow if this continues, as I'm a bit curious after what Kenna posted.

As people may or may not know, there was a hack at DirectTrack this year, and someone took and sold over 500,000 email addresses in batches to the industry. Those who also may not know, I am the person who caught the guy and turned him in when he tried to sell that database to Affiliate.com and Azoogle.

As someone pointed out, they were emailed from names that were specific to other networks. I have spoken to one of the networks involved and am concerned that the list was not just their affiliates, but from a list they bought from someone, as this list has been floating around the industry for some time. I am also going to be asking the two affiliate networks to immediately email their affiliates and inform them of this relationship.

On top, the confirmation list will be completely and totally deleted in full. As Jared @ Firelink already pointed out, he has been a reader of my publications from some time, this is where the vast majority of the email addresses came from, my publications for the last 12 years. I apologize for the few people in the screen shot below, but many, many people in my list have been reading it fro as long as 10 years, and some are still reading what used to be my daily mails to people about my life, love, death and the industry. You can see some people have been there since my import into 2005.

Again, I apologize and this will never happen again.

Is it really too much trouble for you to take a few minutes to blur out their email addresses and names?

What is the point of that screenshot, aside from once again throwing people under the bus so you can promote yourself some more?

More shameless self promotion to distract everyone from the fact that you stole your former employer's email list?

Since you turned this guy in (What law enforcement agency I wonder?), surely there must be a public record of it. Post up the indictment or other relevant public record.

There is numerous information about Digital River's lawsuit against him.
Google Eric Porat & Digital River.

The feds declined to prosecute however, feeling that it was not illegal to possess email information about someone.

If you wait a few hours, I have a press release about a $25M lawsuit filed against a scammer just filed, someone who has threatened to blackmail me over email with false statements if I don't stop reporting on him.

Man, I was supportive of you up to this point, Pace...

But your outing of a page of your subscribers e-mail addresses like that, many of them obviously work and ISP addys, just wows me.

Your statement "I apologize for the few people in the screen shot below" blows my mind- we all know how to blur out shit as BCG points out, so that's just FUCKED.

You lost me, mate: 40,130 Contacts now.

Good point, if a forum moderator can delete that, appreciate it. It's been a very difficult weekend!
