OP: what exactly you have in mind? pump up videos and have aff links in description? or drive traffic to your website? it's def not new. lots of stuff was done on youtube.

If you have your video pitch refined it can be very profitable for you.
Use the same principles for your video as you do your landing pages. Lots of A/B and C testing.

its not really talked about that much because most people who use youtube to drive traffic are trying to be cheap and will just upload the video 100 times with diffrent keywords before they pay for traffic.
