Wufoo + Stripe = Niiiiiice

And in an effort to keep that money mojo flowing, we’re delighted to announce a new partnership with the smart people at Stripe, who are building one of the simplest developer-friendly ways to accept credit card payments on the web.

YEAHHHHHHH!

Finally! I have had a few customers going away as I couldn't accept credit card payments ...

Wish they'd allow businesses outside of the US/Canada. Paypal is really starting to piss me off and I've only been using them for a month.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but they don't accept people from the UK :(

Google Checkout's reasonable though.
Why break my good mood? WHY??? (Thanks for letting me know).

Well, hopefully, they will implement it in the UK soon ... or is it like ... stripe does not work in other other countries than US/CA ?

It really sucks that Stripe is only in U.S & Canada, they should have global presence. PayPal can be a real dick at times :(

stripe has to deal with compliance on a country by country basis, plus since it's so easy to sign up, I'm sure they are being extremely careful about fraud on their backend so they're taking their time.

If Stripe gets very big, they will be acquired by a bank, or government regulation will fuck up their business the same way local government is trying to destroy Uber.

Enjoy companies on the way up, because when they become huge, the founders no longer get to exert much influence on them.

That is why I applaud Mark Zuckerberg for going public to raise capital but still controlling his company at the share level.

I could see Google trying to buy either them or Square because that would be the ultimate advertising metric ever. They'd be able to track conversions from impression to point of sale (in the case of Square) or web sale (Stripe).

Sacca talks about it in this Foundation video towards the end (he's jerkin it to Twitter in the video, but the point he's making applies to this conversation):

Guys, while I'm sure this is pretty nifty why aren't you just getting a real merchant account?

Yeah, the problem with merchant accounts with straight online digital products, is the risk factor. Most merchants processing prefer brick and mortar stores. But if you actually fill out the paperwork, with proof of your sales, refunds, etc. you would get approved rather easily. The next step is the integration. Its pretty easy to integrate paypal, versus authorize.net without a shopping cart module. So some sort of ecommerce framework is needed.

I'm a partner in a merchant processing bank, its alot of hoops you have to jump through, just to get the technology working. Also we purposely put hoops for straight digital products/services cause of the fraud and liability. Its our money on the line since we are the end underwriter.

Stripe, paypal and similar systems make it easy for almost anyone to accept money, but they make their money on the interest(cause you have to wait 7 days to get your money) and/or higher rates.

Most of these online marketers dont have EIN for ever online website, and since every service is different, you have to get new approval for each site/service.

That's perspective from my side of the house. At least, that's what we do...
