WP OptIn is a plugin for Wordpress that inserts a "Subscribe to Newsletter" checkbox into your comment forms. When commenters check to subscribe to your newsletter, WP OptIn integrates with your Aweber, ConstantContact, or MailChimp email list to automatically add the new subscriber.

Unlike similar plugins, WP OptIn does not require commenters to fill out a second signup form to subscribe. Once they check the Subscribe box, they are automatically subscribed or placed in the opt-in queue if your newsletter is double opt-in.

All of your email list settings are easily setup through the WP OptIn tab from the Wordpress admin area. Simply point WP OptIn to your Aweber, ConstantContact, or MailChimp account and newsletter, and it will start taking signups.

WP OptIn also includes a Wordpress signup widget that uses AJAX to signup visitors without them having to leave your site.

I am initially releasing this here on WF for the limited time price of $29. This is good for one installation of WP OptIn.

Special Offer - If you signup for Aweber under my affiliate link, I will send you the script at no additional charge. PM me for my affiliate link if you are interested in this arrangement.

Note - If you use a provider other than Aweber, ConstantContact, or MailChimp and want to use WP OptIn, let me know and I will look into adding support for your list provider.

Not to be a dick, but there is a free plugin that does this for anyone using PHP List. I think it could be hacked for the others if you want.

almost anything can be found for free... doesn't always have the same features or ease of use. Good luck with your sale, looks like a cool product

If you use Aweber, ConstantContact, or MailChimp, my plugin will handle your subscriptions right out of the box. The PHPList plugin is not an alternative unless you use PHPList as your mailer.

This plugin is for people who aren't savvy with PHP and web services or people who don't want to learn the APIs to make it work. Writing Wordpress plugins and working with web services is non-trivial, it's not just "hacking" you could do in an hour or two, as you suggest.

Edit: Thanks TaylorH and atoreese. If anyone has any suggestions for improvement, let me know and I'll work on getting them in the plugin. I've already made a few improvements based on user suggestions.

Looks awesome! I'll need something like this for an upcomming project, I just have a quick question, if they get added to the optin list will they see the "you are now subscribed to ______" or will they be taken to back to the blog post?

I looked into that option, but the way Wordpress handles comment posts, it redirects back to the comments section and I couldn't find a way to trigger a message. You could thank them in your opt in confirmation email or other follow-up email.

I did add an option where you can change the label of the subscribe checkbox.
