So.. I want to use a cache to speed up the site, going for 99/100 here.. But I'm not sure what to do.. Super Cache and WP Total Cache, etc have bugs, constant security problems, etc. (If you aren't aware check around, I think it was Sccuri? who pointed big security issue with Super Cache right now on their blog)..

Anyways, I'm not sure what to use.. Is there any way to use a Cache without the plug-ins, or does that not really work as well.. (I read you can, but not sure what problems come along with that route). The only benefit I read was putting cache code in your htacess, was it consumed less memory, etc than the plug-ins.

Kinda lost here...

1. Bloghue plugin 2.1 would handle this

2. Yes, cache plugins generally suck, break, and have historically been bad for SEO

3. Have you considered a CDN? Its essentially a distributed way to cache your site.

I'm sure one of these sql/php folks can answer this question more technically and come up with a custom solution (seriously probably bloghue)

If you have a VPS or Dedicated server, varnish is a popular solution.

Nginx is also popular as a front end cache for wordpress, and there's a plugin that simplifies the task of NOT caching certain requests (admin, comments, etc)

Great question. Several WP sites I set up a couple of years ago and then left idle are corrupted, there are always a ton of deadbeats coming into your sites if you have good .coms especially....

At this point would love to hear the question posed years ago, if you had to pick 3-5 WP plugins, what would they be any why?

Thanks for the question..

I have tested and researched a LOT of different caching plugins and what I use now is this:
DB Cache Reloaded Fix
with
Hyper Cache

On some important site I add cloudflare on top, but usually only these two plugins.
