I'm going to Hawaii next April/May, I am going to start a Hawaiian travel site, so it'll be a research trip and a tax writeoff. What ya think?

yup but make sure you talk to a cpa so you understand how much and what can be written off.
 
sure it will fly, if you do some real work, why not? if the site is a resource it could be very good. How would anyone know you did your research etc. 2000 miles away? take pics and put them on the site. sure it should fly!
 
yah, will do. i think if i get a massage, review the hotel, and review the first class flight over, it'll all be good? And of course review every restaurant.

Can I deduct the cost of the plane tickets even if I use frequent flier miles?

europe is horrible. i can complain all i want. free country. if i made more $ i'd pay less taxes... i guess im still middle class.
