The majority of crime is not and cannot be reported on by the national media.
Certain cases often receive a disproportionate amount of coverage, such as with JonBenet (which is probably the most covered US murder in recent history).

Right, but I also think the media favors whatever is going to make them look better in the public eye. Crimes against minorities are better for public image because it makes them look sympathetic. The opposite is also true, coverage of crimes against whites by minorities can hurt their public image as it would make them appear unsympathetic toward the struggles of minorities. The end result of this is that minorities are not held as accountable by the media as whites. Tell me I'm wrong, but that's just simple psychology.
