German just shut down 7 nuclear power plants...
i couldn't believe with that...

nuclear is the cleanest energy and the most capacity energy source in the world. why don't you believe using nuclear power plants will make us brighter futures? I agree with that developing more power plants due to the current economic demands.

compared with fossil fuel, the nuclear energy is really better: cleaner and also safer.

we should start to believe that, nuclear power plant have future.

Solar and wind are the only clean energies.

Good luck bros

Alice,

You seem like a single, fertile and attractive eighteen year old woman. I think you've approached the topic of nuclear energy incorrectly. In an effort to help you start off your affiliate marketing journey on the right foot, I have taken it upon myself to finesse your first post. It should read as follows:

Germany just shut down seven of its nuclear power plants. This is astounding!

In my humble opinion, nuclear energy is the cleanest form of energy production available at this point in time. The output capabilities are astonishing.

I'm wondering what everyone else's thoughts are concerning the viability of nuclear energy as an endless source of clean power.

Admittedly, the production of more nuclear power plants will necessarily be taxing in a post-global financial crisis atmosphere. However, as compared with fossil fuel based forms of energy production, nuclear energy is superior because it is cleaner and safer. The recent events in Japan are a testament to this point.

Friends, gather around and lend a helping hand to help convince the masses that nuclear energy is superior!

Cordially,

Alice

p.s. I want to be clear that my purpose in rewriting Alice's first post was neither to convey my support nor my disapproval of nuclear energy.

+Rep. You're going to do well here, Rick.

Alice... Not so much.

PS: I agree totally that nuclear is cleaner though... But it's going all downhill from here.

While we're on this subject, I realized that this Solar infographic that I've used once or twice before is on Germany too:

It's kind of old, I posted it here somewhere months before Fukishima.

WTF? Have they been planning a conversion from Nukes to Solar all this time, and Japan just gave them the excuse they were looking for?

Maybe we should ship fuckin Obama to germany. He gotz all thoze green energy projects like a muthafuka. He Real Smart.

Someone always has to bring up the Nazis.

I just Google'd Fossil Fuel Subsidies and read a couple sites. They are long on propaganda and short on actual information.

What are these subsidies and how much do they cost? A subsidy where you are allocating a dollar amount to the government allowing someone to drill somewhere does not cost money whereas giving tax rebates to subsidies the high price of solar does cost actual cash.

We would be better off getting better MPG automobiles and being more energy efficient. We can build homes that are 90%+ efficient - why don't we?

Where is my small diesel pickup truck?
My house was built in 2004. It was 108 today and the A/C just kicked on for a few minutes per hour starting around 3:30pm. And my house is no where near the 90% efficiency level. Yet countless other homes have had the A/C on all day. I think we are approaching this wrong. Use technology to save energy.

Agreed. Just the way Big Oil likes it.

Your wording here makes it sound like a subsidy is between my wallet and Uncle Sam... It doesn't work like that... These subsidies are all between Uncle Sam and a set of Corporations. Congress hands over money in one form or another to the Oil Giants to make sure we get $X oil at the pump. Some of it is actual dinero and some of it is in contracts for drilling rights and so forth. That varies yearly. And naturally, OPEC has a huge influence on how large that $X amount is.

Oil Subsidies are a racket. I see why they were needed in John Ford's day but christ the Electric car came first!!! Imagine if we had instead made a "battery Subsidy" or a solar subsidy back in 1904 instead of an oil one... The world would be so much better off today it's scary.

We would be better off getting better MPG automobiles and being more energy efficient. We can build homes that are 90%+ efficient - why don't we?
Um, perhaps because Big Oil actually likes their $72 Billion dollars... That's a hard amount of cash to let go of, especially when an infintessimal fraction of it can buy off every lawmaker each year!

That's awesome. My apartment's AC has to run nonstop on a 90 degree day. I envy the shit out of you. But if you'll follow the money trail, you'll see that "we're" not approaching anything "Wrong" - We're approaching it, as we approach all things, the way that makes the most powerful player the largest amount of money.

That's life today. To change it you have to become the most powerful player.

Yes to solar, but wind?

You'd need to fill up the whole of Wales with wind turbines in order to power a single city. They're a total eyesore, they're noisy, and if they're placed near/in the sea, they kill fish and beach whales.

You are right, I just thought of it as a totally clean energy after the infrastructure is built of course.

guys. thank you so much for the discussion
lol
this was just a mistake. i thought here is the energy forum... lol
:)
