This is a reponse to the thread "who are these assholes?". I though maybe we could have something a bit more useful than just bitching about it. So, who are the good guys? Which are the ebooks worth buying?

A few guidelines. Please state
- what the book is about if it's not clear from the title
- level (beginner or "advanced" whatever that means)
- if you have actually read it yourself.
- if you have actually paid money for it yourself.

A few that come to mind that are often tossed around, though I haven't bought many books of this sort...

Aaron Wall, The SEO Book (SEObook.com).
- haven't read or bought it, but it's frequently mentioned as being one fo the best.

Mike Grehan, Search Engine Marketing (search-engine-book.co.uk)
- haven't read or bought this one either, but Aaron Wall recommended it during his interview on Webmaster Radio as the "other" SEO book that he would buy other than his own.

Joel Comm, The Adsense Code
- bought this one in the print version. Basic info on using and optimizing Adsense. Nothing revolutionary, but nice to have it collected in one place. I wish I had bought it a year ago before I spent hour after hour learning most of this myself. Still, I think I'll get enough out of it to make it worth the cost.

Eric Guigere (Making Easy Money with Google or somethign like that). Basic Adsense book. I haven't read it, but he has a nice blog with good info and I suspect that based on that, his book is not total BS. He's working on an "advanced" Adsense book.

I wish I had more to mention based on actual purchases, but I'm so sceptical of most of these that I can't put down money for hot air.

Since I'm pretty new to all of this I really dont know a lot of these guys at all... nor do I ever now if what they sell is a scam or not. Good feedback from a thread like this is just what we need.

I would love to buy a book related to this subject, would give me something to do at work, and would result is less post whoring! Maybe Jon will buy me one! Haha

Why buy an ebook when you can just pay for a membership on here! (when that section is up.)

I've always stayed away from ebooks ,too many bad things said about them versus good things.

True... in a sense thats what this thread is for though (IMO) to break through the bullshit and really find out which ones are worth it and which ones are not.

It takes a lot less time to learn the basics. Plunk down $100 bucks for seobook and you know all the basics. This is a good starting point, rather than hoping someone mentions everything in passing. You could miss a major point just because everyone else considers it self-evident.

I just released it last week, PM me if you want a deal on the price. You just have to promise to give me feedback, good or bad. My plan is to double to size and then release it in print.

Yeah, I've slammed ebooks mostly, but I think there are a handful that are really worth the money. I'm kind of surprised that people don't have books they swear by (instead of at). Must be the spammers haven't discovered WF yet!

I might be in touch with you Andrew.
