Which is better SEO or SEM?



Both are important in their own ways. As SEO is time taking process, SEM shows quick results than SEO. SEO is organic marketing like optimizing your site to get better ranking in SERP whereas, sem comes under the paid marketing which includes PPC, ad campaigns, etc and shows quick results!
 
Both processes aim at increasing visibility in search engines. SEM uses PAID strategies to appear in search while SEO uses website optimization to gain visibility and to appear in search.

SEO and SEM are both valuable in there own way but there is a slightly difference in their working Seo take time to show the result its result come after 15 to 20 days whereas SEM result is quick and not so much time taking as compare to Seo.
 
Its depend with your goal. If you want to get search engine rank for long term, SEO is the best choice. But if you want to instant traffics, SEM (paid advertising) is good ones.

I really think it's impossible to determine here which one is better since they both have their advantages and they should in fact being used at the same time for achieving the best and fastest result. I think that working on SEO is really mandatory nowadays as you can't expect to see any great results if you skip this part, it's essential that you site shows up among first search results after some special queries have been searched. On the other hand, as this is something that requires some time to start showing results, it's a good idea to use PPC methods at the same time as this will help you get much faster results and start attracting more traffic to your site which will also be useful for SEO efforts.
 
This flexibility allows you to see differences in your strategies immediately. You cannot accomplish this through SEO, as it would take too much time to make changes and monitor differences in results.
 
Oddly enough, both are important. So, it's better to do both SEO and SEM at the same time.
