this project is for the place where I work
it's a golf driving range and they want me to create a web page for them
I'm still in the process of learning html but I have no clue where to get my domain name from
I'm looking for something relatively cheap
this site needs its own domain with a few sub domains
I basically just want to load up my .html files and bam, it's done

what's this I hear about verizon and comcast providing free domain names and all that stuff? is this true or was I misinformed

err... I don't think 8 or 9 bucks a year is too much to ask for a domain. All that "free domains" BS probably has strings attached (as in: they charge you a cartful of cash to renew your domain one year later).

So go to www.godaddy.com (tricky interface, avoid if you don't know what you're doing ) or www.namecheap.com or whatever.

If these two won't do, just go to http://www.registerindex.com/ and pick one. There are lots of COMPETENT reviews, so you'll know what you're buying.

Namecheap is excellent. Their interface is extremely easy to use. I personally hate GoDaddy. I plan on switching my domains with them to Namecheap when they expire.

I like godaddy although I haven't used namecheap.

If you go with godaddy, use the coupon "HASH3" to get .com names for 6.95 ($2 off)

You can also use the code SAVENOW at godaddy and it takes off 10% of your order. It works well when you buy a shitload of things like I do.
