Hey guys,

Something that's been on my mind lately is why so many people don't make the distiction of when it's best to use and landing page and when they should send direct to the advertiser.

I really can't see any use for a landing page in most every situation I can think of.
If you would create one because you don't think the advertisers sign-up/gallery or some other page will convert the visitors enough you're just delaying the inevitable. You're going to have to send them there after your landing page anyways.

I also don't see how a landing page would be useful for adwords/ysm/msn PPC traffic because everybody knows that you should be making a minisite to avoid being screwed by quality scores.

So that rules out pretty much every use for a landing page in my mind.
Where would you think they're sucessful?

Regards,
Sean

Use a landing page when you need to presell a product and/or sort out different offers based on geo targeting or brands.

Don't use one when your keywords and ad have already targeted your lead to the point where a landing page would be redundant.

You can def use a landing page if you are trying to promote more than one company off of a ad words text ad

A decent example of when a landing page is a good decision is when you're comparing different types of products, where you give a slight review and maybe a rating. Example: Top Cheap Hosts

Although I do agree with you, most times it's best to send them to their "landing page" straight away..
