When displaying wordpress "category" in post, can you also display a certain img?

ok, does anyone know of a way to do this?

I want to have posts in wordpress that will say this at the bottom of the post

posted: 10-04-07 category: cat name


is there a way to have the categories show up, and also have an image with them? like, a little icon I design for the categories? I've never done this before, but I thought it should be possible somehow.

To answer your question, yes it is possible. A simple php function/plugin is all you would need to program. There may even be one out there if you do some searching for it.

I found this one, but it's for an older version of wordpress. It might still work:
